185 I was wondering about the law/mores that allowed men to kidnap and rape women with high social standing or dowry... and then be able to claim/marry them.

I’m going to say ‘obviously’ that rule wasn’t extended to the common man raping a high born woman and claiming her thereafter...

Was there any specific reason why it was ok for ‘gentlemen’ to rape a woman for this reason, but not the low born? Or was it just that ‘gentlemen’ weren’t really in the wrong to take what they want?
185 Engaging the Enemy. Set up in a dark room to get an heir.

185 No worries, hope you enjoy it.
185 Roman rings a bell, but not sure if it was main character.

185 I remember this book I think... don’t remember the submissive stuff. But she was an author. The pig stuff was to figure out scenes for her book, and raised questions when people saw blood and plastic and all. Think they were top floor appartments... he rarely went out?

He was extremely private (maybe previously famous or rich or something) and he found her notes about his life, that she was then taking bits of to write a new book, while changing enough to not be recognised. It was part of her process and she kept the notes to ensure she didn’t mimic anything.

Will have a look
185 Interesting, but I’ve only read her twilight series. Will have a look, thx.
185 No, not the one. Thx.
185 This book is the one I was thinking of, just popped into my head! Figured I’d post it just in case I got the details wrong, it’s been a while since I read.

185 The Others of Edenton. PRN. I haven’t read this far in the series, but book 5 is the hea for the bitch from the first couple of books, and by the sounds of it, the H was an asshole if not a bad guy in a previously linked series.

185 Tim Winton has something that sounds similar.

185 Oh, thing I know this. There was a rivalry/love triangle between the guys and the girl. The ‘H’ who she wants, won’t change her but wants her to stay with him for her life... but she’s sick and doesn’t tell him, so when it gets to the point, she leaves and agrees to stay with the ‘otherH’ in exchange for changing and saving her.

The original group are living in some kind of warehouse?

Sound right? If so, I’ll hunt.

185 Another option might be to pick one and make a ‘suggest books’ thread with the details the old op used in the original thread...?

Guess that leaves you having to read any suggested, but might get some more eyes on.

185 That ones harder. Some of them are ‘regency’, ‘elizabethan’ or ‘Georgian’ etc... but not only do a lot of them not point that out specifically, but you might not remember that part of the detail.

I figure odds are you either don’t read historical type books, so don’t need to bother looking, or you do read them and the rest of the header should give you a better idea of if it’s in your wheel house.

Of course, that assumes the op HAS added further details in the header rather than just ‘historical romance’ and left it at that.
185 That sucks, it sounds interesting :/

185 Not by sight... both leads are blind

185 Thanks, but not the one... don’t think I’ve ever actually read a Nora one, but have looked at a few. Will check this one out.
185 No worries, glad it was them.
185 So, yet another one for me... I used to be able to remember them all. Not sure if they are changing covers in me, or if it’s just age 8/

Almost certainly an iBook (oz)
Read in the last few years
Set in small farmer town America (don’t remember snow or super cold... but could have just been set in summer)
Possibly a series
Characters are 20/30’s I think. (No high school or college)
Set in recent times
Family farm?

- What I do remember is that in the end, there was a big reveal of ‘the farmers store’ of some sort.
- I think the ‘ancestors’ set up a gate stall, and the family might have been needing to/thinking about, already have, shut it down or it was damaged?
- Possibly the great grandfather built a beautiful building special for the great grandmother? (neither in the story, and don’t remember parents in story either)
- think the h was a newbie to town?
- possible h was an artist?
- I have an image in my head of the town coming out to the re-opening of the shop... maybe the h had convinced them to make it a real community store... all the farmers stock, plus local artists and crafters items for sale too, and maybe a cafe

Thanks for reading :D
