It's really hard to find this book in my library country because the resource for international books is very rare here and I can't afford to buy this book right no..."
Ask in the Pay-It-Forward thread for The Color Purple.
Maybe somebody still has a copy...

Is that something that should be seriously looked into and discussed?"
As feminists, we really should go looking into that. Isn't it one of our core values to fight against exploitation/coercion of women?

Hm, I'd say that gender identity is innate, but gender expression is a social construct.
I don't have a problem with the woman she portrays, but I always feel excluded if there's only cisgender, female woman. Or I have missed something, that I have yet to discover, and that she speaks to all women. But, as I said, I haven't found such paragraph yet!

She can have her choice of roles but more importantly because of her co..."
My momma didn't believe me - argh, my parents are so nerve-racking sometimes!

I watched the interview with the 10-year-old interviewing Emma and she got asked what she liked about the movie (if my brain doesn't trick me right now), and Emma answered that there was a song that was very special to her, about a little girl in Paris. And she said to that 10-year-old: You know, I'm born in France, in Paris, and then I sing this song about a girl born in Paris.
If you find it, watch it, it's wonderful!
About the "gay moment": To be honest, it was just because I knew there was a gay moment in it that I thought LeFou was gay. But for me, there was no "gay moment" as in, that LeFou kisses someone, or holds hands or something similar.

Uh, that's cool that they all are buried in one place. I guess in Austria that would be the Zentralfriedhof (central cemetery) in Vienna, I think most of important figures of Austrian people remain there.
And yes, if it was up for debate to transfer her remains to the Pantheon, then most French people should have at least heard about her:)
As for HiddenFigures: I've watched the movie and I think it is really a movie worth watching. I didn't know anything about it, and have heard about it here on OSS somewhere the first time.

She was the first feminist, and gendered the French constitution from 1791. I'm currently in a lecture where she is mentioned, and she seems she was a very interesting person. Seems worth further reading:)

Oh yes, it's so good to see PoCs in there... hey, we live in the 21st century, of course they need to be included!

Just out of curiosity, which speech did you see? Her UN speech or another one? There are so many:)

The emotions on the beast's face was so real .Emma was awesome ! I can't wait to own the movie."
They literally transferred the facial expressions of Dan Stevens onto the Beast:) Every friday night they would see all the scenes again and Dan Stevens would mimick them again, so that his facial expression could be transferred onto the Beast. It was so funny to watch the interview where they said that and Emma just said: "Every friday night."
Shay wrote: "It was so good. We saw it Saturday. It was pretty packed. Long lines. Luckily we went a few hours early and bought our tickets so we didn't have to wait. Although there was a line before walking in..."
I bought the tickets three weeks prior:) And I was lucky, because the queue was quite impressive for such a small cinema. They actually show the movie for their "breakfast in cinema" thingy, how cool is it too have breakfast and watch that wonderful movie?:)
It was also the first time for me that I witnessed applause in the movie theater:)

Now, welcome aboard:) It's wonderful to read that you have gifted your mother with this book. And that now you too will read it!

I was lucky enough to see it on the 16th, when it premiered in Austria, and well, it is feminist at ist core, isn't it?

I know right? I haven't seen p..."
Me too! Especially since this is the version of BatB that I will fall in love with. I'm younger than Emma, so no chance to see it in the 90s, and I hated Disney princess movies for a long time. I have only watched Mulan sometimes, Pocahontas once or twice.
I can't wait to see it again!

I think that the entire premise of Beauty and the Beast is as beautiful as it is powerf..."
Emma said that she sees Belle opening the library for the public and teaching the children to read in there after the "official ending":=)

Uhm, my Spanish is non-existent, but doesn't "Rio" translate to river in English?
So far, La Loba was my favourite chapter too, because I could relate it the most.
My La Loba collects bones through reading and learning, and making connections between the "bones" is the thing she likes to do the most.
I always loved wolves as a child, can't be a coincidence, can it?

Here comes a ..."
"We resist - auch wenn's pisst"? Now that is funny, what a slogan "We resist, also when it pisses."
FYI: "pissen" is a slang word for both heavy rain and when men urinate, so I think that's just perfect to use.

Both of you, James and Diana, when you watch the movie, Belle is really in 2017, I think Belle was modernized perfectly. And I haven't seen misogyny in there that isn't tackled.

I have heard so many argue that just because Belle falls in love with the Beast in the end, she is not entitled to be a feminist. As i..."
As I've already seen the movie on Thursday, I can second you wholeheartedly: When you watch the movie, you can see the feminism everywhere!
