174195 Good morning Daisies!

I think I'll be wrapping up Sapphire Blue and probably Crimson Hearts today too - both have about 150ish pages left in them and they're quick reads!
Feb 12, 2021 04:39PM

174195 I actually need to read The Color Purple this week too. I left it off my initial list but as I'm helping host a buddy read discussion for it next weekend, I do kind of need to read it! :) That would be another option for matching covers too I suppose if we have two of the same book!

It may well be - I was just trying to figure out the possibilities as that was the first thing that came to mind for the book. :) I'm sure there are other things I can figure out for the book too as I go.

174195 Are we thinking the word "hearts" on a cover works for the hearts on the cover?

I have less than 150 pages in Crimson Hearts and it's a quick read I'll finish tomorrow.

174195 Hello all! I'm Deborah of message 13! :) I have a lot of reading I really need to get done in the next week so I'm happy to have this extra motivation!

I'm in and out for a bit today but will add to the spreadsheet when I can.

One idea for the matching covers is that I am planning to read Sapphire Blueand Emerald Green. The first one I'll definitely finish Saturday as I have about 150 pages left and the second I'll probably finish over the weekend. They do coordinate well enough to 'match' in my opinion given that they're in the same series. They'd work for other prompts too, but it might be an easy way to deal with the match.

Sapphire Blue (Precious Stone Trilogy, #2) by Kerstin Gier Emerald Green (Precious Stone Trilogy, #3) by Kerstin Gier

Others I'm for sure finishing soon: Betty Crimson Hearts.

Others I'll be reading next week: This Is My AmericaHow Long 'til Black Future Month?Surviving SavannahA Song of Wraiths and Ruin

Betty by Tiffany McDaniel Crimson Hearts by Nicole Reeves How Long 'til Black Future Month? by N.K. Jemisin Surviving Savannah by Patti Callahan A Song of Wraiths and Ruin (A Song of Wraiths and Ruin, #1) by Roseanne A. Brown

174195 I wound up kinda napping and acting the part of the couch potato today (wasn't really likely to finish anything today anyway). This has been a lot of fun and definitely read more this week than I would have otherwise! Good reading with you all! :)

174195 I just finished Home Before Dark and put it down for something I'd want on a deserted island - I mean if I had my house that would be great - or at least some sort of house/shelter that would go a long way to making the island survivable.

I also realized I only had 50 pages left in There Once Lived a Woman Who Tried to Kill Her Neighbor's Baby: Scary Fairy Tales so finished that and put it down as a job I'd hate. Being a hitman/killer is a job, right? Just not one I'd enjoy.

Back to finish off Bluebird, Bluebird now... once I convince the pup in my lap she's wanting to move so I can go get my book. I am literally balancing my laptop on her and typing right now because she's so sound asleep! lol :)

Yes! I'm part of a team hosting a buddy read for Bluebird, Bluebird it on instagram so I can't finish it until after our chat Saturday morning, but I'm really enjoying it so far!

I'm starting Home Before Dark today which I think I should fly through since I have the ebook and audio options.

Maybe something along the lines of a character making plans for their future (YA, planning for college, etc.), planning to have children (future generation), or nonfiction about environment or something that relates to concerns for the future? I'm sure others will have better ideas. :)

174195 Looks good - I'd just suggest copying over the names at the top from sheet one so we can fill in potential books in the columns.

It looks like favorite season's answer got deleted though it is still marked as done. I remember someone saying they filled it in, so it probably just got accidentally deleted at some point? *EDIT - I found the book SarahKat said was filled in so went ahead and put it back in.

174195 I just finished Malorie but need to get creative to fit it in somewhere.

Boat - I could name a boat "Survival" (which I'd call a theme of the book?) just in case my home state of California gets hit with the big one and goes underwater? lol

I don't think age works (2020 - wouldn't want to be younger than 21 for obvious reasons - Malorie is probably younger than me and certainly more fit I guess that wouldn't be so bad) :)

And I don't think I'd want to move to a world where you need to walk around blindfolded.

Going with boat for now!

Not going to have anything else finished most likely until the weekend.

174195 I was thinking the wildcard may have meant that a random book could be slotted into a question even if it doesn't answer the question (meaning we'd need to still read 45 books, but a few could be just random). I think this is how the 'wildcard' option has been described when it comes to the ATY challenge, but not sure about here so may be way off base. Lol

Building on Traci's shuffle idea: If the human body is something you find beautiful, we could move Rosewater to something that smells good and Traci could move hers to physical activity.

Also agree that if the book describes anything about how a body does something that relates to an activity you enjoy that would work for sport/physical activity too.

174195 I've started Malorie which is pretty short so I anticipate finishing it today (I'm already 30% through). I'll see if it fits anything that's still open when the time comes though it may take more creativity as we get down to the last couple options.
Jul 22, 2020 04:36PM

174195 I finished Rosewater which I put down for something you think is beautiful because roses are pretty and we didn't have anything else slated in on that line.

Also finished You Look Like a Thing and I Love You: How Artificial Intelligence Works and Why It's Making the World a Weirder Place and this one is hard to place. I put it down for thing that you use to motivate you because I have been setting Alexa to give me reminders when I need to attend meetings to motivate me to remember to log in? :)

174195 Happy Tuesday all!

I finished Northanger Abbey which I filled in for related to a favorite TV show. Gilmore Girls was an easy one since a) a fave and b) there's a book challenge based on it and NA made the list.

I think I'm going to start Rosewater next because I have a buddy read chat for it this weekend. No clue where it would fit best, but flowers are a good smell and roses are pretty. And maybe once I figure out what the book is about I'll have more ideas. :)
Jul 20, 2020 09:13PM

174195 Monday was long, but I did get The Nothing Man finished cuz as far as I'm ever going to know a Polar bear weighs nothing because I'm not about to get close enough to talk one onto a scale! :)

I may work on finishing up Northanger Abbey which would work for a tie in with a favorite show (on the Rory Gilmore reading list for Gilmore Girls) and there are a few characters in there who hit on some pet peeves and I'm sure I could fit it in elsewhere too.

174195 Yay team! I'm never sure how reading will go during my work week but we'll see! I am hoping to keep the momentum going. I do have some report running and brainless data entry to get to at some point which is usually a good time for audiobooks! :)

I really want to read that one soon! I would fail at being musical or in front of an audience! lol

I finished Tehanu and put it down for favorite Halloween costumes because pirate and witch are the two that come to mind from when I was a kid and there's a character who has done a lot of sailing and there's a witch so it works!

I'm about a third of the way into The Nothing Man. It's only 300 or so pages so I likely should finish this one tomorrow.
