174195 The B&J prompt could also be colors - so finding a cover with colors to match a flavor of choice. I think it shouldn't be too hard to find something to work.

There are also two flavors with "Body" in the name which would work well for thrillers / horror with a body count! I do like the creativity this prompt can allow. lol

174195 I just realized that the manga I read last night was over 200 pages so could count and the main character is a doctor, so slotted that one in there.

I saw discussion earlier about financial event and Fairy Tale would work for that as there is an inheritance key to the plot if people have other books to put in for sports related we could swap them around.

Edit: I finished Imago by Octavia E Butler and they have interesting big and extended families so went with big family for this one.

174195 It has been a busy day, but I should finish off Spare shortly which I think will work for family gathering out of the prompts we haven't marked off yet. Not sure what I'm focusing on next.

174195 I switched gears and binge read Dawn today which I put in for involving birth or death as that was the only open prompt it fit.

Hope you feel better soon Samantha and your daughter too Alicia!

Reading will slow down tomorrow (boo work) but I'm hoping to make progress listening to Spare at work.

174195 I loved Dead Romantics!

I finished off Fairy Tale and put it in for sports related as the main character played a lot of sports and it's something that keeps coming up throughout the book.

I also finished up Ymir which I put in for physical disability. It's sci-fi so not exactly human disabilities but missing parts and chronic injuries so I think it works.

I'm starting a couple longer books next but will probably pick up some faster reads alongside them too.

174195 I'm starting off finishing Fairy Tale by Stephen King as I had about 200 pages left in that. I have a snuggly puppy and crocheting to do both of which pair well with audiobook reading!

174195 I just realized that there's two Deborahs here. I double checked and my sign up was message 21 so I think I'm in the right spot for this team but if I should head to the other team, feel free to let me know.

Happy reading!

174195 Hello all! I look forward to reading with you! I have a few books in progress and a few more planned so I'll work on figuring out where they may fit.

I'm really hoping to just live in my PJs with my books this weekend so hopefully I'll have a strong start!
174195 1. What is your availability this week, and how many books do you anticipate reading during the Read-a-Thon? I should be pretty open this next week, aiming to finish about 8 books.

2. Which time zone do you live in? PST

3. Can you commit to checking in with your team frequently during the read-a-thon? Yes!

4. Are you interested in being a team leader for your group? (i.e. keeping track of team totals, needed tasks, updating spreadsheet, etc. -- We aim to have two captains per team so you can share the responsibility.) Sorry, no.

174195 The website isn't letting me see past page one of this discussion for some reason, but I finished Dark and Shallow Lies which I put for no person on the cover. If that goes against anything already discussed that I'm not seeing feel free to move anything around. Not sure I'll finish anything else today but I'm hoping to get a lot of pages read as yesterday was busy and today I just want to sit and read!
Dec 16, 2022 10:48AM

174195 I also finished The Girl Next Door which I put in for a different continent as it didn't fit a lot of what was left.
Dec 16, 2022 09:53AM

174195 I finished Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six and put it down for inclement weather. :)
Dec 15, 2022 11:53AM

174195 I just finished What Lies in the Woods which I put in for a book related to a game.

I'm working on finishing up Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six next - should finish today or by tomorrow for sure (since I'm hosting a buddy read chat for it first thing Saturday morning)! There's a storm starting and it's in the synopsis so I think it definitely would work for inclement weather or it will fit a few other things too I think.

174195 I finished off The Night Watchman so put it down for Powell's book award lists.
Dec 14, 2022 09:09AM

174195 Happy Wednesday, Dracula! I read a good number of pages yesterday, but spread them around a bit between a few different books so I didn't quite finish The Night Watchman, but should finish that up today for sure as I've only got a few hours left on the audiobook and a lot of super fun reports to run at work!

I also just got a relatively short audiobook (What Lies in the Woods) so that is going on my definite TBR for the next day or two. It mentions a game in the synopsis so that might be a good fit, but once I start reading I may find more prompts to suit it.

174195 I read a lot of fantasy so generally have some good options around for dragons, but they're generally BIG books so not great for a readathon!

I finished up Mad Honey late last night and put it down for one of the flora/fauna prompts as it deals with bees and flowers quite a lot.

Focus today is on The Night Watchman which would work for the Powell's book award list one I think as well as other things. I am also hoping to finish A Sliver of Darkness either today or tomorrow.

174195 absolutely feeling that hard to get into the work day feeling today! I'm making good progress on Mad Honey and will hopefully finish that today or definitely by tomorrow. My current short story collection I have less than 100 pages left now so hopefully that will be a finish soon too!
