174195 Thanks Sophia! I won’t be able to pick up something new until tonight but I’ll check where we’re at and see if I can close any for a second round

174195 Ooh cozy mystery was the dark horse!

Happy going for good finally made it and cozy mystery. I don’t really like the choose your own prompt prompts, but I’ve accepted them as showing up every year.

174195 And it’s when you go to sleep Sunday night

174195 I finished Good Omens. May not be able to update the spreadsheet till later but it fits 2 authors.

I’m torn. The writing was good and so funny. But it was also all over the place with two many characters.

Anyone want to guess the probability that we are going to figure this out? Haha."

Thank you Dalex, for putti..."

I'm always so amazed by people that don't find out the sex. There was no way I could have made it the whole time without knowing. I hate secrets and suspense (yet love mystery and thrillers lol)

174195 I meant 3 and 12. Favorite prompt and previous year prompt.

174195 Ooh how fun!! I definitely think 2 and 12, although that makes me a bit sad.

I would love Goodreads awards but people don’t seem to like them as much as previous years , so maybe going for gold or the divided/split covers

174195 I agree, I think it will be hard getting in as “adapted”. I’ll upvote because masterpiece holds a special place in my heart. But while not all the books are “classics”, by nature of it having been adapted by masterpiece I don’t think there’s going to be options for those that mainly read books published in the last 5ish years.
It also makes it similar to the adapted to a tv/movie (which is usually tough to get in) but narrower.

I think it’s worth a shot and you put in such hard work with the listopia, but maybe if it doesn’t get in this round you would be open to broadening it to “related”

174195 Oh I’ll delete the retellings. Apologies I got too excited without knowing the actual wording of the prompt.
Sep 14, 2023 07:35PM

174195 That said, if we’re looking to complete another round of prompts, I have a couple other shorter books I can get through and add 2 more books read by Sunday. At this rate, I’ll probably just be done with good omens

174195 Good Omens can fit there but if you finish the other first I don’t mind. Good omens can fit multiple places. A little slow in reading today because my small human was home sick. Hoping to finish it by Saturday

174195 I think it also depends on how the prompt is worded. If it’s “related” to a Masterpiece Theatre production you could expand it to include more books, for example The Maid would match a lot of masterpiece productions like Downton Abbey, Upstairs Downstairs.

174195 I’d say that’s a better type of guilt lol

174195 Just added about 30 retellings. I love Tirzah Price's books and those are all there.

There are very few contemporary novels on the list and I’ve read most of them...."

I definitely think retellings would count! It's still the same base story, just usually modern perspectives

I actually love retellings and have read quite a few, especially for the Jane Austen Masterpiece ones. I can add them to the listopia later tonight

174195 “They’re made by British companies and British broadcasters – for the BBC and ITV – and once they're done, we bring them back here.”

This and it’s always British actors. Is it maybe wired in the UK just not called Masterpiece? I’m so confused. My world is shaken!
Sep 14, 2023 02:13PM

174195 Wait it doesn’t air in the UK?

This says a lot of them are produced by the BBC and other UK ITV channels. Do they just produce it for Americans?

174195 ooh is Upstairs Downstairs based on a book? When I search Goodreads (which is a terrible search engine) it only shows me a book that says Season 1, so I'm guessing that came after??
Sep 14, 2023 09:20AM

174195 Omg I didn’t like the Anne Frank one either, and I felt terrible then too. Haha
Sep 14, 2023 07:57AM

174195 Do you have a Google doc with the titles. If you send me that link I can get to as many as I can and cross them off when completed
