At the end of Justin's assigned part three! Hooray! I took a bit of a break in there, but hopefully I am back on track.
Lots of Boston AA stuff toward the end of this section. Some of the stories very intense! Not sure how this will all fit in.

So far, the way this one is written is sort of hard to follow. I can't put my finger on what it is that is causing it. I hope that I get used to it.

An interesting alternative history take on The Cold War. This series was first published back in the 80s, so it probably hit home even more back then.
Of course, as we continue to get ourselves into situations as a society, it continues to be relevant.

As much as I love Goodreads, their phone app leaves much to be desired

If you are referencing things ahead of this section, be sure to use a spoiler tag. If it is a discussion of something in this section (or, later on, a section prior to what we are reading), I don't think a spoiler tag is necessary.
Have fun and happy reading!

I am pretty sure this conversation will prove to be better than the book.

I will be joining once my hold comes in at the library. I suppose this one would be weird to say I am looking forward to (especially after Justin's last comment)

This is one I probably would not have thought of reading without this group.

Go Ally! You can do it! And when you get done learning about Canada stuff we will still be happy to discuss The Watchmen with you!

I remember that when I finally saw the movie the shock factor had been built up for me so much I ended up not quite as shocked as I expected to be.
Of course, I think I watched The House of 1000 Corpses around the same time, so probably nothing else would be all that shocking.

Yes! Just found on the digital library!
Justin wrote: "Might try this one, too. It's one of those that I feel like everyone has read except me. I'm not big into historical fiction, but I feel like I need to read this."Agreed that I too feel like this is one I should read. For some reason this is just about the only Toni Morrison novel I cannot find at my library - and they have an entire shelf of her books!

Hey! Welcome back! Missed you around here!

Kind of hit a standstill here - in the middle of a rather lengthy, but interesting section about Boston AA. However, long work hours have caused me to doze off almost immediately when I start in on this every day this past week . . .

Apparently, if you get an older version it may say that it is abridged - but what I found out is that all versions are the same, it is just a joke that Goldman abridged the ancient text - and called it the "Good Parts" version.

While we get it in our head that superhero's are perfect, this book is delving into the darker side of human imperfections and prejudices affecting superheros. While I have seen it touched on in some other superhero storylines, it doesn't usually seem to get quite as dark as it is here.
I thought it was particularly interesting how they mentioned the superheros dealing with the Red Scare in the 50s.

Although I am enjoying the story, I am not loving it. I've honestly never read a comic book before, and I'm..."I am not an avid reader of comic books, but I have read a few in my time, so the format is not bothering me.
However, I wasn't sure how I would enjoy this - and if I would feel like I was really reading something amazing/worth the 100 best of all time. But, this story is pretty amazing and well thought out so far!
