. . . as for bringing stuff, i'd say breakfast foods is a good bet-- stuff like muffins, coffee eggs, bacon, bread, cheese kinda stuff . . . i'll get bbq stuff for the first lunch tuesday-- in fact i'll get enough for wednesday, too, and i'll get tons of paper plates and keg cups etc . . .

. . . the fort flaggler retreat center is a different location then last year . . . there is a store/cafe thing at the campground (i mile away) that has wifi-- though it's sorta hard to see your screen since you're outside . . . i plan on checkin my e-mail at least once . . .

for the record: the nearest good grocery store is about 20 minutes from retreat center . . .it's a QFC right at the four way junction in port hadlock, just before you take the right for marrowstone island . . . as for expenses: the keg is on me, and i think we've got a $250 balance on the accomodation, which means maybe $25 each total for the three nights (can you believe that?) . . .

. . . i guess we should discuss who wants to handle meals for the first 24 hours-- lunch, dinner, b-fast the next morning . . .

. . .maybe simple bbq fare for the first lunch so we can bust it out quick and cheap? hot dogs, vegie dogs, potato salad kinda thing? . . . if that works for everybody, i'll pick up a bunch of this type of stuff (hot dogs, buns, salads, etc) when i get the keg . . . also, on me . . . for the rest of the meals, i think we should handle it like last year-- a couple people take the helm for each meal, shop, and we split the costs . . . i'll be happy to handle a dinner, and PROMISE no repeat on the enchilada fiasco, though i'd rather not since i may have a baby to watch . . .

. . . if it works like fort warden, we need to pay the balance on the accomodation at check in . . . i should be there by 1pm, and will check in-- provided i have my book advance (check is "in the mail"), i will pay the balance and collect as people arrive . . . if i don't have my check yet, i might have to wait until we can collect the balance, which shouldn't take long, as it sound like most people are arriving early afternoon . . .

. . . yeah, no doubt . . . surprised finnegans wake wasn't on the list!

you guys may just wanna go straight to flaggler and take a ferry around noon. . . i've gotta go about 30 miles out of the way to pick up the keg . . .

. . . something to keep in mind for the 28th: i gotta pick up a keg in port townsend at noon, so i'll need to leave bainbridge around 11:00ish . . . as it stands, who does NOT have a ride from the ferry the morning of the 28th, and who WILL have a car and will be able to transport bodies to Flaggler? . . . two or three people can come with the dogs and i in the moho . . .

. . . you'll be going to coleman dock downtown seattle . . . i or somebody will pick you up on this end the 28th, unless you make arrangements with somebody who is already driving . . . for logistical purposes, i think as many people as possible should try to catch the same ferry on the 28th . . . and i think we should get as many people out here before noon as possible . . . here's the schedule:

. . . big fat apology for not being more on the ball here, kids . . . with all the recent developments around here (life, death), not to mention rewrites and general money-chasing, i've be been a little distant-- but believe me when i tell you i'm SO LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS!!!

bring sleeping bags and pillows (and no, they don't have to be arctic bags, it probably won't sinke below 60 at night) . . . essentially, this is gonna be like summer camp (complete with panty raids--so watch yourself ben!) . . .

... i plan on dealing with some more details this week (white elephant gifts, etc) . . . my cell number again: 206.491.2318 . . . i will do anything and everything within my power to see to it everybody gets rides, etc . . .

. . .you guys KNOW i'm stoked to see old faulkner on there! . . . the funny thing is, thematically AA still haunts me, it's just the execution that drove me nuts . . . the corrections was one of those books that blew me away in terms of the writing on a sentence level, but the characters weren't sympathetic enough to me to resonate-- still think it's a great book . . . at any rate, i love lists like these because they're divisive . . . tale of two cities is one of my least favorite dickens novels . . .and there are two or three JK novels i liked better than on the road . . .

. . .knock 'em dead d.l. . . . the devil's company is at the top of my reading list!
