152301 Think about adding the author and the week when you post a topic ;)

152301 He doesn't use " or - when people speak ;)

152301 I read Vicious last year, enjoyed the idea but not really how it's told. Because of this I'm reluctant to read A Darker Shade, even if it seems interesting.

152301 Yes, it's a trillion times better than this crap movie ;)

152301 By the way, in case you missed it, Goodreads did an April Fools too :)

152301 Oh, this is interesting! I'm looking forward to your opinion on it :)

152301 As I explained in another post (you can search where, you'll have an Easter egg hunt early), for April Fools, french kids stick paper fishes on people's backs with adhesive tape ;)
It did a funny name for the challenge, without changing it too much but I don't know how to take the fact new members registered with this name :p
152301 You have some doorstop books on your list, it won't help. I advise you to choose some short ones (200 pages) for some categories, it will help you to stay on tracks :)

152301 Yes ;)

152301 I agree Christine. French traditions are usually a little weird and different (we don't have a tooth fairy, we have "the little mouse"...) so it was really fun for me to discover the english ones.

2 last suggestions added in the 1st post.

152301 (Paper fishes sticked with adhesive tape on the back of people are the traditional April Fool for french kids)

152301 I read it years ago and liked it at this time. It's one of the last King's works I enjoyed.

152301 Ok, thanks, I added it :)

152301 Stewart O'Nan could be an idea for the author with SO. I don't know about his books but the ratings are ok, so maybe you'll find something interesting.

The Lazarus Prophecy seems interesting, your opinion on it would help me to decide if I'll add it to my to read list or not ;)
March Recap (7 new)
Mar 31, 2015 04:39AM

152301 What did you read this past month? Following the order or not ;)
(February recap is available here for those who joined later or missed it)

My list
The original Challenge:
10. a mystery or thriller: The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes ****
11. a book with a one-word title: Genesis *****
12. a book of short stories: Through the Woods ****
+ The Lottery and Other Stories ***
13. a book set in a different country: The Mango Season *****
16. a book from an author you love that you haven't read yet: I Shall Wear Midnight *****
32. a trilogy (the first): Theft of Swords ****

Side-reads
Books:
Ravage **
The Time Machine ****
Scarlet and the Keepers of Light ****
P.O.W.ER ****

Short free stories:
During the Dance *****
Select Mode ****
Greener Grass ****
The Axe ****
This Chance Planet: A Tor.Com Original ****

I'm starting to move side-reads in the challenge as I want free time at the end of the year to read some choice award books, so I'll do a bit of out of order. This month doing this was helpful as I had to change my one word book because it was bad and 2 other weeks were not really entertaining.
I decided to read some free short stories on weekends, so I didn't read my usual graphic novels :)

152301 I was searching an "indie reading challenge" (or self published books RC) but I didn't succeed to find an active one. Maybe I'll do my own challenge with myself :p

152301 It's funny to associate "ink" with ebooks, for me ink is more related to paper (but works too with some ereaders). Anyway, I'm mostly an ebook user, no problem with more like me :p

I like the giants one but maybe people will be afraid the group reads only doorstop books and it won't be very efficient in a group search.
Thanks for all the ideas :)

I'll update the 1st post with the suggestions.

152301 What did you read this week?
The Mango Season

What was your destination?
India!

Did you enjoy the book? Would you recommend it?
Yes, I liked the colorful characters, the family was horrible and very narrow minded so it was pretty easy to understand the main character. It was a good insight on indian traditions (arranged wedding mostly).
This type of story is not my usual cup of tea but it was fun and easy to read, so yes, I'd recommend it, specially to people not too much in "people fiction".

Do you want to read more books happening in this country?
Yes. This one focused on wedding so I'd like reading more widen ones.
