"Well gang, we're gonna have to figure out what we're doing next. Seems like Zaynah is snug in her little beddie over there, and Salifia can't go anywhere, so I guess we'll have to spend the night here, what do ya say?"
Almost immediately, everyone began moving off and looking for a good place to sleep.
I looked at the sky, and already it was beginning to darken.
"Okay, is everyone set, or do ya need sleeping bags?" I heard a shout, and turned to see Paige helping people to find suitable, relatively dry patches of ground, and handing out rolled up sleeping bags that had apparently appeared out of nowhere.

Blood.
Guts.
Uhhhhhhhhh

"I'm okay, I'm okay."
And sat down on a nearby stump, staring off into space.

Before I thought it was just highlighting the awesome idea of making toast. I would want that.

"Salifia!" she said reproachfully, "I wasn't done! And look at that, all my good bandaging gone to waste!" Paige wasn't too happy, but I could tell she was still glad the two of them were alive.
Salifia gave a muffled grunt, and finally Carla was finished. Nautious, I backed away and into a tree.
"Em! You oka-" Paige jumped towards me, but I shook my head. "I'm fine, just a bit nautious, is all - go on, Carla - Salifa, they need help!" I shook my head again, and let myself off the tree trunk. "Just a bit nautious, that's all." I whispered, then stumbled off to throw up.
Blood.
Guts.
Uhhhhhhhhhh

"Salifia! You're hurt!" I whispered, then Paige interrupted, "Here, let me." She knelt down, and tenderly finished the job, her slender fingers wrapping the bandage, unfolding bends in the fabric, and untying bloody knots.

"Oh, and Er- Oh! There you are, Erin - promise me you'll mind your manners," he walked out the doorway, straightening a new tie that somehow appeared on his chest in a matter of seconds, "and be polite to Mrs. Edderson - you hear?" He walked right past me, and I ran to catch up.
"But Dad, you just got back and -" I desperately tried a different approach, but he cut me off again.
"Erin, I really need to run, so much to do, and I only came back to grab a bite to eat and change my tie- spilled orange juice on it, you know..." He disappeared around the corner, and out of view. I just stood there, frozen in the hallway, hand still raised to grab the back of his shirt.
But I realized he wasn't going to listen. He was much too excited and in a hurry for my 'petty interruptings'. I sighed and turned for my room, trudging slowly through the door.

Alex screamed (a very unmanly scream) and put a hand to his mouth. I had to agree, Carla and Salifia looked awful.

Dad had just burst through the door, head spinning wildly, and an enormous grin planted on his face.
I turned, and said, "Oh, congrats Dad - when do you start?" Then returned to pouring some orange juice.
He didn't seem to recognize my toneless voice, and instead answered, "Monday! I have so much to do - can you make dinner tonight, Erin? I'm afraid I'll have to run! No! Better idea, I'll call up Darm - Mrs. Edderson, I bet she'll be able to watch you tonight! I have to go into the store and continue my interview, so be a good girl, eh?" And with that he disappeared from view, stomping up the hallway and into his room.
I whirled around at the sound of Mrs. Edderson's name, and groaned. Not her. Anything but her.
"But Dad-!" I called, hurrying to his room, but as soon as I got there, the door slammed in my face, nose inches from the door. Evidently, he hadn't heard me.
