141034 That is kind of a long one, but yeah.

Did that help?

It kinda shows the plot, but doesn't give away the ending...

House of Hades:

Kinda like that, you usually see it on the back or inside cover of books, could be a sentence or a paragraph, like Rick Riordan decided here

141034 Stepping up to my dresser, I began rumaging through the endless supply of shirts, finally picking one out.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When I next left my room, I was fully dressed and ready. I left the apartment, a gray sweatshirt tied around my waist, and a cute navy blue top with jeans. I walked down the dusty road, staring down at my toes in silence.
141034 "Erin! Erin"! Dad popped his head back in through the doorway, a new shirt on and his hand to the phone, which was pressed against his ear. "Erin, I'm going to go to the store for an interview - is it okay if you stay here?" he whispered hoarsely, his eyes huge.
"Uh, yeah, sure, Dad. I'll be fine." I answered, staring down into my bowl of milk.
"Great! Thanks, Erin!" he mouthed as he popped back out, presumably to finish getting dressed - and to talk with his hopefully-new boss.
Fifteen minutes later Dad reappeared and I was still at the table. He looked nice in a new shirt and tie, shiny shoes and crisp pants. "How do I look, Erin?" He asked, beaming as he grabbed his keys from the shelf and pocketed his phone.
"Great Dad - hope you get the job." I said distractedly.
He shot out the door, and within minutes I heard the crunch of gravel and he was gone.
Slowly, I stood up and stretched. Ugh, falling asleep unexpectedly twice at uncomfortable places really wasn't good for my back. I walked stiffly up the hall and slipped into my room.
141034 I stood, yawned, and stretched. My back ached from the odd position I was in, and with one hand on my back, I stumbled to the window and shut it. Closing the curtains, I yawned again and looked around. Suddenly, a noise like thunder errupted from all around me and I jumped. Looking wildly around, it took me a moment to realize the thunder had, in fact come from my angry stomach, and that I had neglected to eat supper when I got home.
Glad no one was present to witness my embarrassment, I trudged out the door and down the carpeted hallway, towards the kitchen.
All the lights were off, and it took me a while to find the light switch, I was bumping into things and stubbed my toe multiple times. Holding back a yelp, I finally found what I was looking for and flicked the switch. Immediately, light flooded the room, and I sighed with relief.
Now fully awake (thanks to the sharp chairs and their accursed way of getting in the way of your foot), I headed straight for the cupboards and pulled out a box of cereal. Cereal for supper, apparently. After pour way too much milk in the bowl along with my frosted flakes, I sat down at the table, spoon in hand. I began my meal in silence, listening to the ticking clock in the hallway - which read 11:30 - and thinking.
CHAPTER THREE
"Erin! Erin, guess what?!?! Erin, wake up!"
With a start, I sat up and looked around dazedly at the kitchen. I must have fallen asleep, the bowl of leftover milk was still beside me, and the spoon in my hand.
"Erin? Erin, where are you - Oh, look at you, already eating breakfast, nice and early! Good for you! Anyway, have I got news for you!" Dad burst into the kitchen and sat down across from me, swelling with excitement.
I gingerly set down the spoon and pushed the bowl away. "Yeah, Dad?"
"A job! I've found one! Look, Erin, look!" He waved something in my face, but not until I took it from his shaking hand did I realize what it was. A small newspaper clipping titled 'The Herald's Herald' was in my hand, and at first I saw nothing too special about it, until Dad pointed out a tiny article in the bottom right hand corner.
Wanted
A place just opened up in Charles' Department
Store - over 80 years' experience - for a man
in the cashier interest. Requirements on back.
Telephone number on back.
"Look at that, Erin! Can you believe it! And I'm going to call first thing! Just as soon as I find where I put my phone..." he bustled off, quite red in the face, but full of energy nonetheless.
I knew I should have been glad, but for some reason I just couldn't bring myself to. Dad had been looking for a job for some time now, but nothing had opened up for a while, and he was beginning to get discouraged. Maybe I wasn't as excited as he was because I wasn't the one getting the job, or I just didn't quite believe it to be true. But deep down inside I knew the real reason. It was because if Dad got a job, that would mean we were really for sure staying in Berlin, Wisconsin, and there was no going back to Florida. But no, that was stupid thinking. Of course we were never going to go back. Why should we? It only brought back bad memories. But still...
