Hmmmmmmmm how about the voting ends Saturday? And you can begin your contest on Friday or Sat., if ya want, thanks for waiting, Shine!
I shrugged, and stood. "Sorry, stuffy ears, I guess."It didn't sound too convincing to me, personally, but apparently it was good enough for her, because she quickly wrapped her large arms around me and nearly squeezed the breath from my lungs.
Heart pounding and eyes streaming, I was released from the deathly grip and left to stagger backwards, gasping for breath, while Mrs. Edderson swept from the room. I stumbled to the doorway, to see her waddling down the hallway as quickly as she could, shouting over her shoulder, "Your father told me he had to be off tonight, and we'd have to scrape some supper by - what do you feel like, sweetie?"
"Uh - anything's fine with me." I coughed, finally recovering from the huge hug.
"Oh good, good, because I was thinking nachos, now how does that sound?" She answered, and I could already hear her bustling around in the kitchen, the creak of the cabinet doors, groan of the fridge opening, and scrape of the knife leaving its brick.
"Sure, great." Was what I said, but inside I groaned. I hated nachos. Dad knew that. Guess she didn't.
I flopped back onto my bed, and stared up at the ceiling. On a fleeting thought, I realized I had been staring off at nothing and just thinking a lot recently. Ah, well, I suppose I have good reason to.Then I heard the front door slam shut, and I was alone. Again.
On one hand, it was a blessing, I was able to think by myself, with no interruptions from an excited Dad, or him dragging me off to do some stupid errands - but on the other hand, it felt a bit lonely. When Mom was alive, she would hardly let me out of her sight. But it wasn't in a bad, annoying way, she made it fun and interesting. I missed her so much.
I turned over and buried my face in my pillow. I'd been doing that a lot, too, lately. It was getting old and worn out from years and years of use. I couldn't remember any time without it.
Then the sound of the screen door opening reached my ears, and I sat bolt upright.
"Erinnnn?" A high, sing-songy voice rang through the apartment, and I looked around wildly. There must be somewhere where I could hide...Somewhere, anywhere...
"Yoo-hoo! I'm here!" There mere sound of her voice made me cringe.
"Must...find-" But before I could dive for the closet, the bedroom door opened, and Darmina Edderson stood in the doorway, her huge frame blocking any sunlight from entering. Also blocking any hope of escape.
"Oh, Erin, dear - there you are! Didn't you hear me calling?"
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!YAY!!!
Thanks sooooooooooooooooooooo much!!!!
That is, like, the only good poem I've written. Ever.
XD
Hmmmmm Julane hasn't entered her's in yet, so I'm afraid I'll have to disqualify her - Sorry Julane!!! - and she won't be in the poll.
And it's okay that its kinda late - I don't mind, to tell you the truth , I forgot all about the end date XDXDXDSo, I guess I just need to judge...
Actually, instead of three judges, I'll just make a poll!
Everyone can vote, just don't vote for your own!
