139735 It is our turn again, and we have landed on Ballad, with the task: Read a book with two or more lines of text in the story that start with the same word.

I assume this is an easy task, for example, in my current book:
Pg 148 "Anastasia, no surprise here, has a hard time sleeping that night."
And
Pg 149 "Anastasia takes a step closer, peering down to see the hunk of brown bread in Ella's hands."
These are both the start of paragraphs but it doesn't seem like that matters for the task?
Am I reading that task correctly? I'm about halfway through this book and can count it, or if someone has a quicker completion or a logged book, we can use that.

139735 Ugh, no, no chunky books lol. The one I found was a vintage I'd picked up on the Abdication of Edward VIII. I was looking at the typeset and toc to see if I wanted to make it a challenge book and voila, family tree. 😂
I know the fourth Molly the Maid book has a family tree, but you'd have to be at that book and I already read it lol.

139735 No worries! Goodness knows my reading is crap rn too... I'm hoping to get a little caught up before I'm out of town next week. 🙄 So I will probably either read a short book before I go, or packing a book that works and hope I get time to read lol.

139735 I'm pretty sure I put my completion date in. I'm still trying to find my reading brain this month...

Char? How you doing? :)
139735 Oh, I never realized it was magical realism! I'm not a fan of that either, it hurts my brain. I can do fantasy with magic, because I can separate from reality, but magic with the real world (especially since magic realism kinda tends to be historical fiction) just doesn't work for me... I'm trying to introduce some urban fantasy and see if that works but jury is out.

It was funny-sad yesterday because I found a nonfiction with a family tree that would have worked for other prompts too, but I knew you were already reading, and my page count this month is still abysmal.
139735 Yay Beth!! How was the book? It's one of those stories that I haven't ever gotten to because it sounds so heavy.
139735 Hi Kat, yeah, I think so. I'm granting access to all requesters, so if you asked, you're in! :)
139735 I had three access requests that I approved. :)
139735 Hi Beth, yes, I got clued into a tracking spreadsheet Ashley has made. Way better than mine, so I updated the link and let you know there's a different spreadsheet. The OG one should be unavailable; I removed it from my Google Drive. Sorry, I didn't realize that we didn't need to reinvent the wheel.
139735 Yay, thanks Michelle!!! 💖

Books could have been started on Aug 30. :/

139735 Ashley might have repurposed it from last time. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I'm doing all the learning things, so sorry it's chaotic. I'm not even sure what all the columns in this spreadsheet are for yet, but it was more important to get the links all updated so we're all on the same page, although I feel like I'm finding new pages so much today. I'm hoping the columns are straightforward and I just didn't spend enough time looking at all of them; I am very much assuming that Ashley made her life easier, and therefore our lives will be easier. 😍

Hmm, okay, this sounds like something we may want to do early only if we're low on bank and aren't headed for a salary spot anytime soon. Having books in the retirement account means we could have money available to use, even though there would be the penalty... Otherwise, might as well add near the end of the game when we're out of other uses for books. 🤔
139735 Updated the spreadsheet link in my post above; Beth and Richard, can you grab this new one? Angie pointed out that we didn't need to reinvent the wheel, as Ashley had a way better featured one, which may also help with determining if books fit tasks without having to take a survey lol.

139735 😱 Learning more new things! As a previous player, do we need to add books to the retirement section throughout the game, or can we wait till almost the end (since we won't know if we may need the book for prompt/salary)?
139735 We as readers might have to remember whether our reserve books worked for tasks lol. My short term memory loss is in trouble lol!! 🤣

You should have access now, Richard! Hehe, I am happy not to be writing up all of your completions; selfish of me, I know lol.
139735 Beth, you should have access! :)
