I wrote a post updating friends and subscribers about myself personally and literature-wise. If you would like to read it and share your own updates, please visit my blog here!

The cover I chose for our 2018 group is not the one I own but I find it the most beautiful. I have not read this novel yet but this version suggests paranormal content but the categorization is something I favour anyway: gothic mystery. It is a recent release (2010 onward), originating in England with this cover and a title about a character. It was reissued in Canada and the United States one month after, with a cover and title about a place.
My first step is always to see if anyone recognizes it. The clue with which to really work well, is that the English authoress' name, resembles an American author of Greek-inspired children's fantasy adventures. They are blockbuster films, in which Pierce Brosnan has appeared.

It is high time to share a clue about our book cover. Because writing a blog post takes me more time, I warm things up in this group. For players who aren't here and one who is not at Goodreads, I will certainly post at the head blog momentarily. Those wanting to be in the year-end prize draw should pipe up. We draw this week.
Naming the 2018 "My Kind Of Mystery" logo gives participants of any of my 4 groups an extra name in the draw. Everyone who would enjoy solving it for fun, including folks not in my groups, are welcome! See the cover at this URL and here we go, below!

Crickets! I do invite conversation from time time. I am always ready to hear from my people. :)
I have loved the tradition of mailing and the thrill of receiving and displaying Christmas cards, all my life. No matter how busy, no matter finances at the time: this is part of how I celebrate Christmas and what it is for. Keeping in touch in a more tangible, personal way than usual - real mail - and perhaps it is the first time I have touched base with some people all year. It is a time to ensure that communication is spark; to let folks know they are valued even if conversation is sporadic.
There are a lot of wonderful benefits I value. I am inviting interaction with card people. :) If you are interested in sharing the tradition: let's exchange addresses by e-mail! Mine is RonCar(at)Prairie(dot)ca or the other e-mail address you know for group activity is fine.
Yours sincerely, as I always am, Carolyn!

Yesterday, Sunday, was your hostess' birthday! I enjoyed my turn to be thought of and pampered, on a fluffly, sparkly, magical snowy week-end. I imagine cards will come this week, given the position of my birth date. The small visit we had Saturday afternoon and night were wonderful, were just what I needed. We have a clean house, yummy food, and happy energy leftover too.
Sincerely, Carolyn.

The comment box on the review page is fine. It is at the bottom. Some of us are such large readers, a link to your own page with your whole suite, is just great, Sarah. I saw how much you contributed before. Easy and enjoyable is the mission. :-)
Some participants said they wished to set a minimum this year, instead of adding as the year goes on. Others find the year flies by, busy; at least away from the computer. Like me, they will step up summaries in January. I suddenly have free time to browse and finish things in January. I like seeing how many books I finish up to new year's eve and it makes sense that we have ample time to assess, afterwards.
Thank you very much for wishing me a happy birthday early, Sarah!

Hello! Everyone has been quiet here and in the comment boxes at our Mother blog. We are the fewest this year that RIEDEL Fascination has ever seen. I can see that, behind the scenes, the review linkies are being wonderfully filled-in. Of course, anyone wanting to catch up using a link to their own tracking may most certainly post that at the comment box of that challenge page.
Let's talk about the year end prize draw! I like beating the new year's price raise that Canada Post makes and mail whatever our winner chooses by Christmas. I asked that everyone who would like to be in the draw, for a second-hand book or another variety of choices, to please give me their name anywhere. It can be here, by e-mail, or in any comment box at my blog. Please chime in within a week. :)
Yours sincerely and your coming birthday girl, Carolyn!

I hope you are always reading what you feel like and just slotting it into whichever themes it fits. Of course pop in when you're in the mood to join in on things.
We've been praying about a dear cat who is a son to us, to come home ASAP, or to be phoned about where he is. Returning on his own if he needs to, when the snow melts. I'm between having a terrible concern on my mind, to liking long-distance friends, peers, and books to boost my spirits. I'm sorry your husband needed surgeries! I hope he's better. I'm glad my card brightened your spirits in a way I didn't know of.
I love being supportive and giving people and animals strength and any boost I can. A good thing because I have partaken of grace and care since exactly 9 months ago. Come on, Conan! Momma & Dad are waiting! :-) He is Love's brother, the white one with me in my profile photograph. Lovey is surely watching over him, while he made his way to someone's house over winter.

It's nice someone has caught one of my posts this year. Would love to know if you received and enjoyed my Christmas card. I have a lot more to post but got it started. It's great that your variety is all over the categories! Your blog had no comment boxes but I wanted to clarify there is nothing to fulfill. Our groups are a place to report what you do read. It saves no time to read 50 but only tell us you read 20.
You can stop using the link-up button, if you like but visit before December or January and tell us how you did. Unlike other folks, the "no demands" is built in. Just spot things you come across that match. :-)

I was so disappointed at first that so few people joined my groups, that I lost steam to work on the last group's review page. A lot of work and decoration goes into them all but organizing the html code and beautfful book covers for Gentle Spectrums' eleven categories, is the most time-consuming. I eventually thought that we might as well put all contents into one button. Here it is.

In Humboldt, Saskatchewan, there was a bus crash that killed and injured players of a junior hockey team, called the Humboldt Broncos. Today, our prime minister and NHL hockey heroes visited those recuperating in the hospital. Our prayers and love go to all of them, their famiiies, friends, neighbours, and peers. As Justin Trudeau said, "
You are loved and the whole country is behind you". Gosh, we are lucky to have a leader who says kind things like this.
Happy Easter to everyone, from Carolyn & Ron and their kitty family in Manitoba! God's blessings on all of us and our dearest Conan. We await our reunion at home. Xoxoxoxo!

I have finally written a new article at my blog! There is a lot I look forward to discussing, so here is my start. It is about good, earnest listening and conversationalist faux-pas with which I have dealt.

It seems only four of us are in Celtic Coasts so far. I wish everyone a lovely St. Patrick's Day! May positive Irish luck, blessings, and health embrace all of us.

I am not a scientist but have long been a fan of Stephen Hawking; a great compliment to who he is. I admire and listen avidly to his work, attitude of endurance and positive spirit, and adore him as a likeable, humorous person. I am shocked that he died this morning without warning and sad. This is a big deal, an announcement as major as any other that gave our world pause. My spouse exclaimed from the livingroom as he got ready for work. Ron is a scientist and we are both fans.
We know we have had him for such a wonderfully long time, that Stephen's longevity, really did defy science. That is my own apt quote. We always laugh extra happily when he appears on "The Big Bang Theory". I remember him on "Star Trek, The Next Generation" and delighted in Brent Spiner's comment about how hilarious Stephen was about meeting him afterwards; citing the money Brent owed him for the poker game they had acted out on television.
God bless you, Professor Hawking! Thank you for being such a loveable, accessible person: that you make everybody interested in your work; no matter what our scholarly experience! I am especially happy your family had you so long.
With Love, Carolyn.
To all Canadians: HAPPY LOUIS RIEL day! To all who are curious about Canadian history or supportive of Aboriginal history, my aneestor is worth looking up. This is a new holiday for Canadians that started a few years ago. Louis' Grandma, Marie-Anne Lagimodiere was extraordinary: the first white woman to travel and live in the Canadian west: Godmother of Manitoba!

All of my reading groups and my membership with Goodreads, originate from my Wordpress blog, called RIEDEL Fascination. I would like to share in the visible way possible, my seventh anniversary!
Happy seventh anniversary to RIEDEL Fascination! I would love it if you will visit and learn a bit about me. Yours sincerely,
Carolyn.
