I enjoyed the book & the video game history. We see the movie Thursday. I already read up on the differences between the movie & the book so I’m not frustrated.
I love curling up on the couch with the fire going when I read. Only when it’s cold of course. Ha ha.I take a book with me everywhere. In the vehicle when I wait to pick up the kids, any doctors appointment, at a restaurant in case a friend is late.
I don’t mind going to lunch by myself and just bringing a book along.
I don’t know that I have any superstitions, but I definitely finish a book if I start it. I think that’s more of an OCD then a superstition. There is only been one or two times that I did not finish a book and it was really a challenge to quit on it.
The annihilation movie was good as long as you know the only thing in common with the book is the title, the character names and that they went to area X. Ha ha. I’m glad I saw the movie still and it had some beautiful scenery. I just kept thinking to myself that never happened. Let me know how you like it
I’m ahead! I read it already! Maybe I will read it again. My 15 year old son also loved it & gives it as a gift to his friends that like to read. I’m interested to see what they do with the movie. Did anyone read Annihilation & then see the movie? The most different adaption of any book I’ve ever seen! The book & rest of the trilogy was amazing I thought.
Definitely my parents & I am trying to have my children (age 13 & 15) understand that we are the same for them. Friends come and go, but you always have your parents as long as they are living.
I love this genre. Mixed with science fiction as well. The 5th Wave, Hunger Games, Maze Runner. So many to pick from!
I am finishing Thr Alienist. It was really good & so descriptive of New York during the time period. The subject matter was a bit uncomfortable, but still worth the read. The Annihilation Trilogy was so awesome! I definitely will reread it now that I know the end. I must see the movie, but am terrified since they made it scarier then the book ever was.
The director said he only read the book one time & decided to turn the movie into a fantasy & didn’t read it again. It will be an interesting adaption.
If cookbooks count as nonfiction then I have enjoyed Ree Drummond’s new cookbook. I’m on the 3rd book in the Annihilation trilogy. Just in time before the movie. I couldn’t stop reading them!
I thought the Fifty Shades series was extremely boring! Between physics books & ebooks, I like to get 90% of my books from the library & they are physical. Part of the fun is going through, looking at covers, reading the back & selecting.
On vacation I usually take my kindle though.
I started Annihilation, which is being made into a movie, and I can’t put it down. The suspense of what is happening is killing me. I might have to read all 3 books before I can start anything else. In my CD player I am listening to The Shining. I’ve read a lot of Stephen King, but was always go scared to read this one.
Thanks so much for letting me know! My account is blocked right now which is driving me crazy since I can’t fix it.
So sad when the library is closed. 😢Do you know if they are waiving the fines for the books that have been in the book drop while the library is closed?
I am finishing Sleeping Beauties during the snow storm. Less then 200 pages to go! Excited about the new challenge!
Thanks so much for running the program! It brings me a lot of happiness! Merry Christmas to you as well!
