I just finished The Regrets by Amy Bonnafonns which was different then other books I’ve read. It’s hard to even know what to say about it. It’s a quick read though if you want to see. Crescent City was really good. It’s one of the top reads for the summer or maybe it was for the beginning of 2020. It’s a murder mystery and the characters are angels, fairies, wolves. It was a huge book at I think 795 pages. I enjoyed the writing.
The Blaze was a good one & fairly quick read. It is written by Chad Dundas. A man with amnesia from a concussion goes back to the town he grew up in after his dad dies & gets caught up in an old case & a current murder.
Currently I am reading The Sandman by Lars Keller. It’s a series set in Stockholm Sweden. My father is from Sweden & we have traveled there so I like to incorporate places I’ve been into my reading. I am sucked right into this detective mystery!
Hope everyone stays cool the next few days.
I will have to put the vampire book on my reading list. I could use a good laugh. On audio I am still listening to Game of Thrones. When that is finished I am alternating with Stephen King’a Gunslinger series. I have read the first few books, but never got to the end so I started again.
I am reading Crescent City which is very good.
Certainly enjoying the library pick up services! I got so excited about it that I put a lot of books on hold and didn’t pay attention. I was thinking other people probably had holds on them, but nope 11 books came in in one day! Not sure how I’m going to get through them all. Especially since Crescent City is 799 pages!
Enjoy reading this week everyone! Either out in the warm sun or in the cool air conditioning.
I was so happy the curbside service opened up. It was the best day ever when I picked up my holds. Right now I am listening to the first Game of Thrones on audio. So good.
Also reading Crescent City by Sarah Maas. I really like it. I think it would be considered fantasy. It’s a murder mystery in a world of fae, angels, vampires & other creatures.
I am reading some trashy romance novels when I can’t concentrate so much & need something that doesn’t require a lot of thinking. I don’t mean to insult romance books because I like them, but I’m not sure what the correct category is. Trying not to say erotic romance novels. Ha ha.
Did anyone else go crazy putting books on hold? I read one of the book recommendation magazines the library puts out. It was from back in February & suddenly I had 9 books on hold.
Hope everyone else is ready some good books!
My two hobbies are reading & cooking. So much cooking happening & lots of eating. My DVR is down to 40% for the first time in ten years. Ha ha. I love sci-fi, mystery & more. Murdoch Mysteries, The Expanse, Altered Carbon, Supernatural. As a family we have started Jack Reacher.
It’s been fun to see what everyone else is doing with their time.
I just started reading The Club thinking I got a hot romance book, but it turns out it’s about a boxing club. 😂
I have always been drawn to books set in New Orleans ever since my first Anne Rice book. I was so excited to see it in person years ago. Since I like historical fiction, I like England & most places in Europe.
I love a lot of sci fi, but haven’t want to visit those places. Ha ha
I’m having trouble reading right now because I feel like I need to stay on top of all the news. Probably not the best plan since the news is stressful & books would distract me. I am still in the books from the last time we updated.
Stay safe everyone!
I am reading a book by Deborah Levy called The Man Who Saw Everything. I am also finishing The Institute by Stephen King. I keep getting the book and then not finishing and having to turn it back and then having to wait for it to come to me again. It’s been entertaining, but I think I am actually going to be finished with it this time.
The first book I don’t quite understand yet, but I still really like it. And I can’t say anything about it because it would be a spoiler.
I’ve got The Institute by Stephen King on audible. I started it, time ran out & I wasn’t finished so had to go back on the hold list. Now I’ve got it back. Still only 35% of the way through & only 3 days left. 😂 Might be gong through the hold cycle again.
For my physical book I am going through the This Man series still. On nook three. Written by Jodi Ellen Malpas
In the middle of wrestling & winter color guard season so not as much time to read.
My goals are similar. I didn’t get to 52 books last year for the first time in a few years so I want to get back to it & hit my goal this year. I have a lot of books built up on my kindle & would like to get to them.
1. I started the year with The Gunslinger. I had started this series, but didn’t finish so I am starting from the beginning. Already finished this one since I couldn’t put it down.
#3 - I read Verity. People either loves it or hated it. Very passionate about their feelings on this book. It started off good, got super disturbing & then seemed to wrap up fast. Still glad I read it so I knew what the hype was about, but was definitely disturbed by some of the content.
I like an adaption to follow the main premise & not make big changes. I’m okay with small changes though.
Books in a bag. That’s a tough one! A classic, mystery, thriller, sci fi. Just nothing that makes me cry. Keeping steady on reading. I have The Lost Man on in the car, but also have the book because I have to concentrate so hard in the Australian accent & sometimes miss something so I can refer to the book.
Finished Verity. That was unsettling. Also finished An Anonymous Girl. That was a good one.
I avoid reviews for movies because I usually don’t have the same taste as reviewers. For books I might scan a few, but don’t want spoilers so I don’t read too closely.
I just finished The Silent Patient. Really good! Now I’ve started Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris. Thrillers are the theme of the week for me I guess. Also have to finish Verity (only available online. Not a physical book) which is quite disturbing.
For Audio, I started Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them, but so far it’s like a dictionary reading name & description of beasts so I hope there is an actual story. 😂
I miss the library in the small town we lived in in Ohio. It was an old church. Loved the setting.i would definitely visit a bookstore or library out of town. My son & husband visited NC State the other weekend & I made them promise to see that library. My son & I watched a video on the thought that went into the design process.
