118012 My review for this book is right here - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I read it last year, and I really enjoyed it.

Thank you! I'm always trying to tell people that, but I don't think they believe me. :P

118012 Yes, welcome, Sandeep and Veronica! I hope you enjoy yourselves here. :)

Thanks so much for your great comments! I'll definitely be continuing the group next year (will probably keep the same group, just change the name and archive some items). Whether Faye wants to put up with me for another year is a whole different matter ;)"

Hey, I'm here for the long haul! :D

118012 Nice choices, everyone!

I have to admit, my personal favourite is Wellington Womble. I've always related to him - being a bookish loner, and all. ;)

Eeyore comes a close second!

I'm sorry, Laura. :(

118012 Old Yeller. Black Beauty. Garfield and Odie! Literature is full of characters that aren't quite humanoid but have a lot of heart. What are some of your favourite fictional animals?

Oh is that what it is? It mentions the civil war in the summary, so I thought it was more of an epic multi-generational thing. Sorry about that!

Mental note: Summaries can be misleading!

118012 Wow, what a warm and fuzzy thread this has become, hee! I'm so glad you're all enjoying the group so much! :D

Totally!

You can count it as two, actually. It was getting quite long, so I split it into two volumes. I get a little verbose when talking world-domination. ;)

Faye, you better not be starting a dictatorship!"

I can relate, Renee! I love to pick a theme or two for my summer reading. This summer I'm going to try to read as many books as I can from a certain English Literature Students' Book List I found.

118012 Mine says I've read 12,900 so far, but considering I'm over halfway through 4 books that I currently have on the go, I'm pretty sure it's closer to 14,000. My longest is going to be Vanity Fair once I've completed it.

Such heroism! Such self-sacrifice! Such a great way to spend your summer! ;)

Wow Faye...you mean we now have a reason to read even more?!"

You can even consider it an order if that helps. :P

118012 Kassandra called this one - the official count for April is 498. It must have been a slow month for many of us!

That makes our total for the first 4 months of 2014...

*drumroll*

3,140!

Which means that if we keep up this pace, we'll fall a leetle short of 10,000 by the end of the year. Which basically means we all need to read faster. ;)

Keep up the great reading, everybody!

I think Gilead is historical fiction, too.

I love your list! You'll have an awesome summer. :D

March - 661

I haven't finished counting up April's yet, but that's on my to-do list this week. :)
