It's a sad, sad day - my local used bookstore has closed. That leaves only one little bookstore in town, and it's in the mall. I hate malls. And I can't afford full-price books anyway. :(
*shakes fist at heavens* WHY?! WHYYYYY?!?!?!
*sobs*

Lorah wrote: "I really want to read this but I can't find it at the library! Have you started it Faye?"No, I didn't plan to read it this month, but it's sad that this thread is so silent!
Kassandra wrote: "Sorry Faye! How about Paper Towns by John Green?"That one looks perfect. :)

I haven't read Love in the Time of Cholera, though, so I don't know about that one. 100 Years of Solitude definitely wouldn't fit.
Kassandra wrote: "I'd like to nominate Water for Elephants."I don't think that one fits for Contemporary, sorry - it's historical fiction. Would you like to nominate something else?
Lorah wrote: "I'd like to nominate Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson."Ohh, I love that book.

This is the thread where you can nominate books for our June Genre Group Read. The genre this month is "Contemporary fiction". The definition of "contemporary" is widely disputed, but basically it means books that are written ABOUT the time and place that they're written IN. There is a helpful explanation of Contemporary fiction right here -

Has a book ever made you cry? Or at least brought you to the verge of tears?
I've read A Tale of Two Cities multiple times, and the ending never fails to leave me crying. Very few books have managed to move me quite that deeply.

Clare wrote: "Faye - I have to agree! So disappointed as I have really enjoyed other books of his I have read! I think I am at about 40 pages in - may give it a try another time, but not really feeling it to be honest"Thanks, Clare, it's good to know it wasn't just me. :)
Noam wrote: "Aw Low Key , Loki. I'm easily charmed only two pages in.
Maybe give it a try later Faye! I know how that can be. Crime and Punishment definitely had me in a funk."LOL I caught that, too. Their names are very clever!

Well, I got 50 pages in, but it turns out that this isn't my kind of book after all. Gaiman seems to like focusing on the fouler side of life, and I'm not in the mood to deal with that right now. Disappointing, because I was looking forward to buddy-reading this with you guys!
That's just me, though. I hope the rest of you enjoy it. :)
