It does seem a little bit arbitrary, doesn't it? I was 2 books ahead a couple days ago, and I just finished a book yesterday, so you'd think I'm at least 2 books ahead still, but no... only 1! Clearly my widget doesn't know how to count...

Well, I'm sure it won't be totally silent. We will have to post our p..."
True! :)

I'm glad it's not just me!

Not as much as I thought I would, no. I wish we'd see more of this world than pink slips and closed blinds, you know? And yes, the unfinished sentences are...

I'm reading We, too! That line is scarily rational...

I guess it'll be my own fault if this place goes totally silent all summer because people are reading so much. ;)

Aw, thanks Tara!

As long as you don't count it twice. :)

Who is your favourite author from the country of your birth? (If you have a lot to choose from, you can narrow it down to your state/province/shire or even city. If you've lived in more than one country in your life, feel free to give us an answer for each one!)
My favourite Canadian author is L.M. Montgomery (Anne of Green Gables, Emily of New Moon, etc). I also lived in England for part of my childhood, so I'll give a second answer - my favourite English author (my fave author, period) is Charles Dickens. :)

These are some stand-outs:
Bel Canto
Ella Minnow Pea"
Ella Minnow Pea! Love that one. :D

(For our new members: We're trying to see if we as a group can read 10,000 books this year, so at the end of each month each member counts up how many books they've read, and they post that number to that month's tally thread. Every member is free to join in!)

Thanks, Kassandra! Your vote wins! Grapes of Wrath it is. :D

Here are my choices...
The Grapes of Wrath
Ulysses
Colonel Roosevelt (2nd in a biography series)
Pleeeeease help me choooooose!!

I know, that was kind of weird! It was written to be so up-to-date, but their up-to-date technology was so old-school, haha! Great book, though. :)

I love the movie, too! I should warn you that the book is nothing like it (Hollywood taking liberties, as always), but I preferred the real story.

A lot of people have characteristics from both ends of the introvert/extrovert spectrum, which is I think when extroverts can enjoy sitting and relaxing with a book. My dad is an extrovert for the most part, but he enjoys reading in the evenings when his daily activities are done. Most extroverts are just so busy, and happily so, that they don't read as much as the more introverted bookworms do.
Me, I'm pure introvert. Socializing is exhausting for me, so I've always been that person at the party who sits in a quiet corner reading a book. ;)
