118012 Sorry, but no. The small mini-challenges are meant to stand on their own. They shouldn't crossover with anything.

Thanks for asking. I'll look at the wording again to see where I've been unclear.

118012 This challenge is still open for anyone interested.

118012 According to tradition, Julius Caesar was warned by prophecy to "Beware the Ides of March." For this mini-mini, read one book with paranormal activity by March 31, 2016.

118012 Sports and Madness. Humanity's favorite topics. This is a two book mini-challenge for the month of March. One book should be related to a sport, any sport. The other book should be somehow related to psychology. That could mean a whole lot of things that don't qualify as "insanity."

Ingenuity is always welcome, so feel free to make suggestions that interpret this challenge in creative ways. As usual, please share your thought process as you make your choices for these categories.

*Bonus: if you can find a book that has both sports and madness, you can complete this in one!

118012 This single book challenge is only good for one month! From March 1 to March 31.

Mission: Find and read one book with a story or cover/title that is somehow associated with the "Irish" experience. Books set in Ireland, Irish immigrant stories, anything by Maeve Binchy, etc. For cover/title, this could mean green, orange, luck, clover, lucky charms (rabbit's foot, etc.), or whatever else means "Irish" to you. (Without being offensive, of course. This is a happy, welcoming book group. Everyone on the planet has to deal with some stereotype. It's one thing for me, as a blonde, to tell blonde jokes, but I don't make the mistake of thinking I'm a fool.)

Any genre is welcome. Finding the books is part of the fun! For example, the books below could be counted for this challenge...

Green Mansions
Orange Is the New Black
The Lucky One
Plum Lucky
How the Irish Saved Civilization
My Left Foot

Please include something about the "Irish Connection" in your post, so we can all enjoy your creativity. :)

P. S. You can do this challenge more than once in March.

118012 I just posted a thread in the Mini-Challenge folder for general rules and overview. I can't believe I hadn't thought to do that before. Hopefully this will clarify any misunderstandings. If not, Please feel free to ask questions in the questions thread and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.

118012 Just a few things to bear in mind if you decide to join in on the mini-challenges.

- Each mini-challenge has its own set of rules and completion date. These are posted at the beginning of the thread. Please take the time to read about the mini-challenge you join.

- The Year-Long Minis and Bingos lend themselves to cross-listing. Simply because they are so long and require a level of commitment. Feel free to list titles across the year-long minis. This should maximize your ability to join several mini-challenges if you choose to do so.

- The single-book/one month mini-challenges (mini-minis) are NOT designed to play well with others. There should be no cross-listing with these. They are designed to be an extra little perk each month to keep things fresh and exciting. But they are stand-alone minis.

- There are a few "middle-sized" minis, such as the Bingos and the seasonal mini-challenges. You may choose to cross-list things from these minis with the year-long challenges but not with other "middle-sized" minis or mini-minis.

- Group Read books can be used either with the monthly minis OR with the longer mini-challenges. The participation in Group Reads has fallen off so much that we're hoping to encourage more members to get involved there again.

- You may choose to create a Personal Goal thread in that folder to help you keep track of any/all of the challenges you join. (I have.) But please check in on the mini-challenge threads from time to time. One of the advantages of doing these with a group is that we encourage each other and celebrate our successes.

- There is a thread in the Mini-Challenge folder for questions. Feel free to ask about anything which seems unclear and to pose ideas for future challenges.

118012 Thanks, Leslie! I'm reading several "big" things so it was nice to have the motivation to read something short. I must remember to vary what I read or I get a little book-cranky.

118012 Well, I'd originally planned to try to do this right in the 29th, but I'm afraid to miss my window, what with life being as busy as it is. So I'll go with the novella I read yesterday as part of the Vorkosigan series called The Mountains Of Mourning. I enjoyed it very much and actually did the reading versus the mostly audiobook reading that I usually do these days as I commute. Going to collect my badge now. Yay!

118012 Great going, Jenny!
118012 Definitely, Margie! Tolkien and Christie are great to come back to.

118012 So great to see a few more people finish off this challenge before the 29th of February.

118012 I'm sorry, Clare, but that won't work out the way you expect. If I do the cutting and pasting then you won't be able to edit in the updates as you complete them.

An option for you would be to go to another electronic device and access the website. Then cut and paste to create your challenge. After that you should be able to access the post from your Kindle to do updates. (Theoretically. My Kindle is "readonly" so I can't test the theory.)

Hope that helps.

118012 Great choices! I'm glad to see a few more people getting in on this mini-challenge before the end of February. :)

118012 Nice! I agree. It does feel good to make progress. :)
