118012 Mission: Read a book where a pet is a major player in the story. It doesn't have to be a dog or a cat; if you've got a Finbulous Fish story, go for it.

Deadline: September 30.

118012 This one is only good until the end of September.

Mission: Find and read one book with a word or words in the title that are somehow associated with the academic experience. For example:

Pencil- Carpenter's Pencil
Map- A Map of the World
Apple- Bad Apple
Notebook- The Notebook
Bus- Lilac Bus
Blackboard- The Blackboard Jungle
Principal- The Principal's Office
Teacher- Teacher Man
Division- A House Divided
Writing: The Freedom Writers Diary

No Children's Literature, please. Although, YA is welcome. As is Non-Fiction. I'm going to create a spot just under this for words related to academia as I think of them, but feel free to come up with your own. Finding the books is part of the fun! :D

Aug 24, 2016 05:57AM

118012 Good on you, Sonia!

I need to get back to this one. I had such grand plans to read around my house. Drat that Public Library and its free books!
Aug 24, 2016 05:55AM

118012 Great going, Stella!
Aug 24, 2016 05:53AM

118012 Btw, I'm still diligently working on this one. I happen to find it one of the more challenging of the mini-challenges. It turns there are certain decades I read in more than others, and some decades I never seem to touch. :P
Aug 24, 2016 05:50AM

118012 Absolutely! All challenges that run from Jan-Dec can be back-filled with books you've read in 2016. :D

118012 This one has been quite popular in previous years. It's just so darn challenging. :)
It was born from the responses to Question 32.

Mission: Beginning September 1, keep track of titles that are missing a key vowel. For example:

No As- The Idiot
No Es- Fangirl
No Is- Bleak House
No Os- Pride and Prejudice
No Us- Moby-Dick; or, The Whale
No Ys- Welcome to Temptation

Challenge runs until December 31. Good Luck!

118012 We don't have Hoopla yet, but I use Overdrive all the time. It's very easy.

118012 Woot woot! Good for you, Amanda!
