1176148 Finished Abandon All Hope by M.J. Schiller This has been on my kindle almost a decade 😳 finally read, nice second chance contemporary romance.

1176148 Finished my second pick Book of Night (Book of Night, #1) by Holly Black giving three stars. It just did not hold my interest. Picked it up off and on for over a week but I could not stay invested. I was actually happy to reach the end. Not bad writing just me maybe?

1176148 Finished Daughter of Smoke & Bone (Daughter of Smoke & Bone, #1) by Laini Taylor . I enjoyed it but not as much as Strange the Dreamer (Strange the Dreamer, #1) by Laini Taylor . I will continue the series because it does have goos world building and room for more character development.

Adding to my TBR, being set in Alaska makes it sound even better since most areas are remote.

Good luck Laurel. Exciting and stressful but so true about renting verses owning.

Weighty for sure but at least you are enjoying the read! Hope it continues to be enjoyable.

For me the number of books read is not important but did I enjoy what I read. I’m getting to old to waste time on books I do not enjoy.
So I was frustrated that 1/3 of what I read I didn’t like yet I finished because I was hoping for improvement. I hate to DNF. It makes me feel like I didn’t give the author a chance by quitting around half way in to the book.

Sounds interesting, do you think it might turn into a series since it has loose ends?

This does sound very good. Did you read the Caraval series?

1176148 Looks like July was a good month of reading. Looks like August will be as well. I have not read any of your current reads so I will be on the lookout for your reviews.

I agree about the movie but the book was still a good read. I saw the movie first so not sure if that made me bias. Sorry the last two reads we’re not so great.

1176148 July Update

A much better reading month overall; my big regret is not being able to finish The Son of the House. I thought with the start of August Hoopla would download book correctly. Unfortunately still the same glitch, but the local librarian has contacted Hoopla tech to figure out why the ebook crashed when they uploaded the audio book. Fingers crossed because I was invested in the story when the ebook imploded.

Number books read for July = 19 1/2 and one audio ; 9 new authors (darn hoopla prevented double digits 🤣)! One translated book, We Had to Remove This Post which was a very good read.

The first time in 4 months I got my color challenge books read!

Total number of pages read is 6,570

August is catch up month. I have several GR giveaways to read and I need to get one or two boxed sets. Lilith's Brood: The Complete Xenogenesis Trilogy by Octavia E. Butler I think.

What is sad is that until I picked this for you I had no idea there were women’s pro franchises. I would have loved that growing up.

1176148 Finally got to finish The Nineties by Chuck Klosterman . An interesting walk through memory lane. Rounded up to 4 stars.

And Lance I was pleasantly surprised I actually remembered the college and professional sports issues he brought up! I really do need to start reading more sports non fiction.
