It is always disappointing when you can not connect with any character then throw in poor plot development, yikes. I don’t know if I could have braved it out to the end.

1176148 The Adventures of China Iron by Gabriela Cabezón Cámara
Not on my original list for the month but just finished so posting it. Lime is hard to find color, lol.
Interesting novella based on an Argentinian 19th century epic poem. 3 stars but think I missed some of the social commentary because I am not familiar with the original poem or Argentinian history. I can still see why it was on the Booker list 2020 because of the wonderful descriptive writing.

Well I hope you enjoy it when you get it. There are 11 books that I know of so someone is enjoying the series.

1176148 Short#4 Faces on the Tip of My Tongue by Emmanuelle Pagano. 4 stars

This has been collecting dust on my TBR since it was long listed for Booker a few years ago. Nicely written collection of interlocking stories set in rural France.

1176148 Not really my genre but I have been meaning to add more in my reading. Could anyone suggest some good books to start with?

I have read somethings in the past where horror was tagged, but not necessarily the main tag. I am interested in good plots and characters the level of horror is subjective but willing to try mild to major horror and thrillers.

Also I have never read Stephen King and have no idea which of his books would be good for a newbie dipping her toes into the pool of blood….so suggestions with his work would also be great.

1176148 Finished Masters of the Broken Watches by Razi Imam 3.5 stars

Enjoyable like a summer blockbuster action film. Misfit band of scientists brought together to make extraordinary finds and then be chased by governments who want to control the information. Suspense belief and just enjoy the ride.

This challenge has shown me that plays are not my thing. I will eventually try a few more but I have found some great short stories, essays and poetry.

The loss of your dog is heartbreaking. Mine are like my children…geriatric children, but children all the same.

Sad to hear it’s been a tough few weeks.
