Bitten- TV Show (28 new)
Jan 28, 2014 03:45PM

116885 I watch it and I like it. As I'm terrible at remembering details I can't say if they are switching things but so far I enjoy it. Apart from that the looks of essentially every man is far from the books, lookwise. Elena looks stunning but the men are very much not. Very tiresome, it's like troll the web for a porn with an okay man, impossible it seems? Is that really the best looking actors Canada could find? They are supposed to be hot, all of them!

..Logan is hot though!

Otherwise the animations of the wolfs are a little bit off sometimes but I enjoys it. Definitly worth the time to watch. :)

116885 No I haven't, it was great. I have not even read the books, read half of the first, along with jen reads 50 shades, but put it down and haven't regretted it so I don't know if I will be finishing it. I actually started reading it just so I could argue with a friend of mine who couldn't stop prising it.

...we don't mention it any more. :p
Jan 23, 2014 03:17PM

116885 Just think about how popular 50 shades have been, and people just don't SEE that it's like a manual in domestic violence? And how romantic Edward is when he is stalking Bella? Or prefers to let her die than to let another male near her? Romance, where?

Oh well, I could go on and on about this for a while, but I would just be telling you things you know...

116885 And I know I'm a little pessimistic but I don't think we'll get rid of it. We just probably have to think about it and drop those books who contains to much of it.
Jan 23, 2014 02:29PM

116885 Thought about the article today when I read Laurell K. Hamilton Kiss the Dead, a man was holding Anitas hand in two of his but because his hands were so much larger he probably held more of his own hand than her...

116885 Thanks Kim! It was great, just those things that use to bother me.
Jan 20, 2014 11:43PM

116885 Yes, I've had a couple of those discussions with friends as well, so I'm glad as well!
And I'd like to see that post if you can find it. :)

116885 I'm glad that I'm not alone in noticing it. And i agree with you Icesumly, about how it's worse when there is a woman that is capable in every other way. Sometimes she is even declaaring herself as a feminist and isn't taking crap from anyone, but her vampire/were dude who can behave as bad as he wan't. And even worse than that is when she's going from self standing woman to someone deeply depending on said sexist alpha/vamp.

And Kim, yes, there is a thin line, and so many is way over it! (And now I see that you just wrote whaat I wrote to Icesumly, two souls one thought! ;)

116885 And I'm really fond of the 1,5 books I read so far by Molly Harper, so it's not about bashing her books, this is something I've seen time after another in the UF genre. And others genres as well, I must add.

116885 I came to think about it again when I read The Art of Seducing a Naked Werewolf, and the otherwise freestanding female character get an "bring out the shotguns"-response from her brothers when she was involved with a man. And I'm so tired, a woman is seen as capable in every other area, the men get to choose freely, but when it came to relatives to the men, she isn't capable to decide who she has sex with? She is the frickin' alpha with no interjections, but is she is making out with a man, she's a ten year old molested by the neighborhood pedophile.

It is not that uncommon when it comes to weres or vampires, and it makes me blow up veins in my brain. Do you notice things like this, do you have a different opionion, and what do you think about it in general?

Side Note: Is the Alex Craft series good? I'm trying to find more stuff related to witches. Or at least c..."

I enjoyed Alex Craft a lot, I really think you should read them! I liked very much that the tempo was high, there happened much in just three books.

116885 ...but I must add, I sort of have the hots for Tate since he is described as a dead ringer for Brad Pitt in Mr and Mrs Smith.

What's been on my work screen the last couple of hours?

116885 Halfway through One Foot in the Grave I must say Cat already have grown a lot on me. She is much more mature now, and I totalt agree with you Kim, it's impossible to not love Bones!
Jan 06, 2014 10:42AM

116885 I have had this series on my TBR-list for years, but now I finaly started with it and I like it a lot so far. I just finished Halfway to the Grave and I had to really force myself to write a review and just not continue with the second right away. I found Cat a little childish though, but I have a feeling that is with purpose and we are to follow how she grows up.

116885 Is there anyone up for a gruop challenge? Another group I'm in is having a challenge with A-Z, something like that, not just number of books, but some kind of theme? How many #1 in a series? Debut books?

Anyone up for it? Du you have any suggestions for a theme in that case?

116885 Great thread, Kim!

Darynda Jones books about Charley Davidson! Everyone MUST read it. They are fun, exciting and just wonderful. If you haven't already, read it!
Jan 03, 2014 02:53PM

116885 Yes, it's nice to know I'm not alone, haha!

Great, I'm currently rereading the whole serie, but from what I remember from last time I read Fifth Grave I absolutely loved it!
Jan 03, 2014 01:45PM

116885 Yes, and it is possible to find books that are netiher vamp och shifter, its just to find the GOOD books that are about other stuff. :p I think I got like 7 books on my currently-reading. :p If I'm not in a flow for one book I don't like to push myself to read anyway, I prefer to start a new one instead in that case.

Haha, I'm SO a book pusher! When I get hooked I'm so drawn into that world where EVERYONE should realize just how awesome, hot and best just that series (or character ;) ) is, I mean how could they live if they missed out on THIS? Haha!

I have a bit of trouble with my mom and grandma though, they read only in swedish, and it is a bit troublesome sometimes to find good UF in swedish. Some books are published, but like once three years ago, sold out everywhere.

And you should definitly read Fifth Grave. Like now! ;)

116885 Further into the series Shifter get more political, almost vampire-like in the different political games. Tiresome imo. I liked them but yes, Otherworld was much better.

I think it gets a little that way when you've read much similar books. Isn't it the same with vampires, zombies or what you are reading, to much of the same isn't fun in the long run. The thing that works best for me is to read various themes all the time. :)

Yes, the best is when someone gets hooked, then I got someone else to discuss with. Told my friend my Amazon password and told her to get down Charley Davidson on her phone, yesterday I got this text message:
"WHAT? Haven't you got the fifth book?!??!"
And one minute later:
"Found it."

116885 I read all six books for like two years ago, and I liked them but I was also a little annoyed. I had read Women of the Otherworld jusst a couple of months before Stray and it was like to much that was the same. E/F had run away from their pack/pride and this hot were/shifter dude, gone to college, picked up a new ordinary dude and completly gotten over the were/shifter life. And something comes up and they got to get back, they do mistakes just because of, and they realise they wan't the were/shifter life, the hot were/shifter dude and live happily on the last page until next book.

But I liked it anyway and got the whole serie in my bookcase. It is books I use to lend out to people I think should start reading UF.
