Days Gone is a really good game. It's a much longer campaign than Ghost. I really enjoyed Days Gone and it does definitely have that Zombie vibe that I enjoy - although I think they're not zombies but freakers or something lol. I think Days Gone is 60fps on PS5 so should look amazing. It looked good on PS4 Pro but only 30fps.
1166052 Think I have five platinums lol. Probably easy ones where I got most of the trophies without thinking and then thought if the last couple are easy I'll go for the plat. I probably game 7-9 hours a week nowadays so not really good for chasing trophies or achievements. Back in 360/PS3 days I probably gamed 20ish hours a week but just don't have the time nowadays - I probably didn't back then TBH and neglected a few things.

Yea depends on how much you game each month. You could complete Ghost of Tsushima, as in do everything, in a month if you game a lot but to me the game seems to have a lot more side quests than campaign quests. I've done half-a-dozen side quests for gear but mainly focused on the campaign. I tend to game 4-6 hours each weekend on single player so in a month can easily complete a standard length (20ish hours) openworld campaign in a month. I don't have time to do everything in a game - it would mean I'd probably play one game a year. Cheap but not good for variety. So tend to stick to the campaigns mainly. And I forget about platinums ;-).

Good to hear you're loving you're new console. I'm on the fence on new faceplates - I have looked into them. I'd love my console to be black but I've got my PS5 horizontal too in a cabinet and you can't see it that well - it has plenty of space in the cabinet but in terms of seeing it it not that visible. Plus I'd prefer the PS branding on my plates but again I wouldn't see it in the cabinet.

BTW. Why not sub to PS+ extra for a month to play Ghost of Tsushima - it's not a long game if mainly you play only the campaign. That's what I've done. In fact, I had a code for one month of the old PS+ sub that I accidentally bought a while ago so activated that and paid an extra £4 for PS plus extra and then cancelled the sub. Once it expires I'll just sub to PS+ extra as and when games are on it I want to play. I have games pass ultimate until 2025 so that's my main sub. I won't be buying games on my PS5 - might get some for birthday and crimbo but otherwise will just be subbing for exclusives when they arrive. My missus will be buying me God of War Ragnorok for Christmas ;-).
1166052 Perhaps they might put both on PS+ Extra when the TV series launches - good way to get people that love the show to play the games (if they haven't already), sign-up to PS+. I'm all for remakes of classic games but just the price for me puts me off.

Will it be on in 12 months? I see TLOU2 (as far as I know) hasn't been added yet.
1166052 Heads up for any xboxers on the forum - in case you missed it. I normally ignore the xbox games for gold as usually they're pretty sheet. However this month they have Portal 2 from the 16th September so I'm defo claiming that as it's one of my favourite games of all time - wish I never sold the disk version. And that's the end of 360 games on games for gold as MS have exhausted the catalogue of back-compat games I've read.
1166052 Morning all. Lots more Ghost of Tsushima for me over the weekend. Very close to the end of the campaign now - think I have three missions to go. Not much to say except still very much enjoying it. Combat has become so second nature now I'm constantly switching stances and feeling like a proper bad-ass samurai. I'd definitely play a sequel as I've had a lot of fun with this game. My only real complaint with the game, and it's more down to my taste than anything, is that I hate insta-fail, insta-death missions. The stealth missions where once you're discovered, or the missions where a captive dies before you can save them, I really don't enjoy if I fail. I'd prefer that when stealth fails combat is an option but maybe with fewer rewards or something. Fortunately the insta-fail missions are not that frequent. Minor complaint though as otherwise I love the game. The Khan stands no chance on our second meeting lol.

Yea read and seen a lot on the TLOU1 remake. I defo want to play it just not for the price they're asking. I'll get it in a sale 18months-2 years from now when they might reduce the price.

Yea it’s a really good game. Just contemplating to give Death Stranding a go but I won’t get to play it until late October and the new release season will be up and running by then. And Death Stranding looks like a really lengthy game but I do like Kojima’s crazy stories.
1166052 Morning all. Been playing a lot of Ghost of Tsushima. Must be over half way through the campaign. I've been really enjoying it. Love the world, the combat and the story albeit simple has me invested. Probably the best game I've played since I got my PS5. And although I'm really enjoying it, a lot of my impressions of it before I played it - through reviews, youtube etc - was that of something that was a standalone almost unique experience for an openworld game. That it's not, it's very Assassins Creed like but AC before they changed it into some nightmarish megathon with a million quests. The combat, some of the game play elements and even the story seem very AC like. OK there aren't a million quest icons on the map but they are there as question marks instead and the waypointer with the wind is actually a nice addition but not game changing. I like the clean HUD for sure but not sure an unobtrusive HUD in other games really bothered me that much. Anyway, it's a cracking game - has a great world, graphics (can be mixed though at times with low-res textures but mostly very good) and the combat is a lot of fun. I like the way there are no health bars or enemy levels that you need to worry about - just goes to show levelling in an openworld game is not always needed. I mean you can increase damage and health of items but at no point have I felt an enemy was way-overpowered. So far a 9/10 game for me but it's very much a game I've seen and played before in most respects (not all. i.e. playing as a Samurai).
1166052 Been gaming a lot this week. Completed Recompile on Xbox and I really enjoyed it. It’s a bit of a flawed gem, the platforming and shooting can be frustrating without the slow down ability but with it it’s fine. Also completed Spider-Man Miles Morales. Yea not my bag really, some pretty frustrating boss fights towards the end but better than the boss fights in the main game. At least they seemed better thought out. I was literally sweating with stress after the Rhino (I think he was called) boss fight. Enjoyed the game to a point but I don’t find the combat that intuitive and the constant mini cut scenes in game play was so annoying. And then I started Ghost of Tsushima. Played probably a good 3 hours. It’s really sucked me in. Cracking game so far. Gorgeous world, good story and the combat so far, unlike Spider-Man, is completely and totally intuitive and fun. Gorgeous graphics and I can’t wait to get back to playing it. Looks like I’ll have to pay for ps plus extra for a month to finish it which is fine. I’ve also been using the cards on my PS5 with hints on how to get trophies, including video help, and the remaining current mission time. Really good useful addition.

It’s reported today that Sony is putting up the price of the PS5 console by £30.

Yea SSD was easy to install. I watched a YouTube video first on how to do it. It’s easy but there was one step I wasn’t aware of but once you know it’s easy. There is a screw guide thingyme that you need to move to the where the end of the ssd sits as SSDs can be different lengths.

The PS5 is definitely getting easier to find. When I put the effort in it was in stock in several retailers, but not Amazon. Got mine from Currys. And I think, at the time, it was in stock at AO.com and Argos.
1166052 Been playing some more PS5. Completed Stray and loved it. They imagined an excellent world. I especially liked the two open areas, felt very cyberpunk in small scale but good. And the environments and game play were really varied. Started Spider-Man Miles Morales and already half way through the campaign. It’s good but it’s not my sort of game really. I like the graphics and map but the constant taking control away from me is really annoying. One second I’m controlling the game, next I’m watching a mini cutscene and rinse repeat. And not a fan of the combat - it’s ok but still not as much fun as I had with Batman combat. Not a bad game by any means - just don’t get the mega love, but each to their own. I’ll finish it. All this free game play on the ps plus extra trial :-).
1166052 Well I’ve got my PS5. Been playing it all day. No real complaints so far. It’s massive but feels and looks premium. I don’t like the stand thing for horizontal console placement, it’s so fiddly but a minor quibble. I’ve got no room for it vertical unfortunately. The controller is really very good. Good size, looks and feels premium, and I love the haptics - Astro’s Playroom for the haptics is really good. Games wise I’ve played quite a bit of Astro and Stray. Astro is good fun and varied game play and I love collecting the old Sony products of the past. Good graphics on both. Really enjoying Stray too. I like the console user interface - just nice to have something new for a new generation. I like the control centre on the PS button. The things I don’t like. Controller battery life isn’t great - I recharged a controller in the afternoon and a few hours later (probably 4-5) it was nearly dead. Perhaps that’s the heavy use of haptics though, The console is not completely quiet like the Series X but it’s certainly not noisy by any stretch - especially when comparing it to the PS4 Pro. The PS4 had a news feed where it would tell you in one place what friends were playing, trophies they’ve earned, videos and posts they shared - can’t see anything equivalent on PS5. Anyway exceptionally minor quibbles. I’ve really enjoyed playing on my PS5 today. And I’ve got Spider-Man Miles Morales lined up and Ghosts of Tsushima after that. I very briefly tried the PS4 version of TLOU2 and it looked very impressive in 60fps. It was 30fps on my PS4 Pro, so not sure if they patched in 60fps for PS4 Pro later or something and it’s not a feature specific to the PS5.

To be fair though - one of my wonky ones seems to have fixed itself"

Yea I normally wouldn't buy cover but I thought £12 for three years for a console was pretty good - until after I ordered I realised it was for the controller lol.

Thing is I've ordered it from Currys. And I've paid for quick delivery with a morning timeslot and the order says it will only dispatch if in stock. So I'm not convinced at the moment it will arrive this weekend. We'll see.
1166052 That wasn’t hard. Thought I’d look to see if the ps5 was in stock anywhere and it’s in stock in several places but mostly in bundles. So I’ve ordered a PS5 with additional black controller for £499. Should arrive on Sunday. Very excited now. I made a stupid mistake - I thought I was buying an extra three years of breakdown cover for £12 for the console but it turns out it’s only for the controller lol. That’s what getting over excited does for you.
1166052 So I’m actively looking for a PS5. Not too much in a hurry but I’ve registered my interest on Amazon so fingers crossed sometime in the future they’ll allocate me a PS5. I was going to wait until the PS5 slim but that could still be years away. I’ll keep my eye open elsewhere too. Looking forward to Ragnorok.
1166052 Thanks for the heads up on the 1tb ssd Phil - that is a bargain price. Just bagged one myself. Does that make me a Haw now?

Will put it away until I get a PS5 which could possibly be this year.
1166052 Morning all. Went for another left field game this weekend. Started to play Recompile. It's a kinda puzzler, come platformer, come shooter in a Tron type world (without any bikes or vehicles). I actually really like it but I nearly binned it off twice due to difficulty - mostly in the combat where the enemy at first seem fine but then soon start to be OTT overpowered. Took me about a dozen attempts to get past three enemies in a gang and then when I hit the first boss fight it then seemed virtually impossible. So I went on youtube and discovered there is a power-up to slow down time - which I ventured off to find - which now makes the combat too easy but hey I'll take it. There are some logic puzzles too that aren't well done - a tad confusing - but I managed them in the end (by trial and error more than anything). So I've had a bit of a love-hate experience with this game but I'm mostly loving it - the world is superb, so atmospheric, as is the music. By no means a perfect game but I'm really enjoying it now.
