Ha ha Hilary - we must have been typing at the same time! At least reading in instalments we can catch up if we get behind!

Yeah that was quite random. This book seems just to be a set of loosely connected comic incidents so far - at this point Dickens doesn't seem to have an actual storyline in mind and is just feeling his way.

Now I'm reading the first instalment of
The Pickwick papers and also reading
The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes.

I've just started this today!

114. The Unconsoled - Kazuo Ishiguro

I really enjoyed
The Little Stranger, found the horror to be very subtle but all the more effective for that. It's another one that scared me when reading it alone on a dark night - have just loaned it to my mum actually but she is made of sterner stuff than I am!

I've just finished this, am quite annoyed at Ryder so have only given it two stars. It was interesting trying to figure out where he was going with this story but I can't say I actually enjoyed it after a certain point.
(view spoiler)[ Maybe if Ryder had actually learnt something after it turned out his parents weren't actually coming to see him play - but he just forgets about Sophie and Boris straight away and is more interested in his breakfast and moving on to the next city (hide spoiler)]

I've just finished
Sea of Poppies which I really enjoyed and now I'm reading
Little Princes: One Man's Promise to Bring Home the Lost Children of Nepal by Connor Grennan. Also hoping to finish
The Unconsoled today as I'm having a lazy day.

I love that film!! Probably one of my favourites too

That sounds like fun Hilary! I'm going to Lanchester in Durham as it's closer but I'll definitely check out the one at Felton when I've got more money for petrol -thanks.
@ Lee - ha ha I'm not really creative - I just like my scran (scran = food) and I can follow a recipe!

Cool, now I just need to find time to go see it.

It's always a problem .....

When was the exhibition on Ellie? I would have loved to have gone, will defo check out the book though.

That phrase is nearly always in recommendation of a book that I would label 'must avoid'!

I'm off for 3 days yay! Am going to get some of these books finished and so some baking/preserving - I'm out of strawberry jam! (Oh the horror!) Luckily with the hot summer I think there's still plenty fruit around so am going up to the pick your own fruit farm tomorrow for supplies :)

Good Luck with your new job Ellie! Hope it becomes permanent - it's nice to have a bit of security!

Family saga is one of mine as well.
Also 'a must read'.

That was brilliant! Really creepy.

mmmm sounds goods! I will keep an eye out for it
