Hi Ulrike - welcome to the group!

Only reason I could think of for having it in there..... ;) Bit cheeky isn't it sticking it right in the middle of the book?

That's a bit strange! Never seen that either... does it cover you in case you get arrested and tried for being a witch? ;)

Thanks Hilary - glad they don't necessarily have to be read in order...the library is more likely to have a copy of Tinker Taylor than 'Call for the Dead'.

Thanks Mike - this is a new poet for me but I really liked it!

Cool!
I've only read
The Constant Gardener by him so want to read at least one of the Smiley books - was going for
Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy but apparently this isn't the first one, he's first introduced in
Call for the Dead. So will try and find it in the library. Do you think it matters if I read them in order or not?

Congrats Maureen! Hope you enjoy it!
Lee wrote: "Nice rhyming couplet on the last line :0)"Mr Pepys is a poet, and he didn't even know it!

Oh that's so heart-breaking but lovely too! And I like the extra poem by Pooh Bear as well :)

Hadn't heard of him but had a look at the wiki page last night and some of his books look very interesting! Will see what I can find at the library

Another one I haven't read - although it'll probably come out of Lee's random generator thingumajig eventually!

This is awesome - one of my favourite Poe stories!

He's spot on in this article though isn't he? And I never thought I would be agreeing with Noel Gallagher but he is obviously sharper than I gave him credit for.

Hilary - the Philip Roth book sounds interesting but am not sure that particular one would my cup of tea, is there any others of his you would recommend?

My library has a copy of that biog of Du Maurier - let me know if it's good!
Also have you tried Awesome books? You can get a lot of books for £2.59 with no P&P!

About halfway through In Cold Blood - really interesting, it does read like a novel.
Am also reading (or at least attempting to read) Vladimir Nabokov's Pale Fire....I am beginning to suspect that this one might break my brain but am going with it so will see what happens.

I haven't read that one although I have read some of her others - it's one I definitely want to read though, especially now!

Aww nice one Ellie! That was good timing :)
