110415 Hilary - I don't think my brain took in your comment properly - which ones are shutting?? It's the main one at Sunderland that I use and the one at Houghton but neither of those are closing. (I live in Houghton-le-Spring which is technically in Sunderland but is equal distance from both S'land and Durham so I usually just pick one and say I'm from there :S)
110415 More than likely - which was what was making me think about censorship issues in other places and how easy we have it that we absolutely take our freedom of speech for granted and abuse it by being horrible to people!

110415 Joy- I loved The Snow Child, hope you enjoy it!

Hilary - I think I've been meaning to read We Need to Talk about Kevin for the past million years but still haven't! You've got to be in the right kind of mood for bleak stuff like that haven't you?

110415 Funny - I can actually hear him saying it

110415 Yeah I imagine it can be a bit harsh! I've only seen the one but am totally fascinated by the whole thing - will have to make time to see more.

110415 Interesting - I think there is a thread somewhere about members own writing so when it's all done you can let us know about it. Good Luck and hope to see you around the group threads :)
110415 Yeah it can get a bit mean, and also I've seen where the author has got involved in a slagging match cos their book has been given a bad review which they shouldn't be doing either - think it all kind of boils down to people need to play nicely!

110415 Hi Angela, welcome to the group! Hope you enjoy the group read.
What sort of stuff do you write?
110415 It's a bit crazy! To be honest, I don't agree with any form of censorship but when you think of how it's used in terms of human right abuses in some places, it makes the whole GR thing look a bit petty.
110415 Just a quick question - has anyone else been following all the stuff about Goodreads deleting people's reviews and bookshelves?

110415 I've read the intro which made me want to read it soon - will finish the one I'm on and then get stuck in I think.
110415 Oooh, a garden party at the Palace! That sounds pretty cool, what was that for?

110415 Cool - am a bit jealous! I like anything dark and gothic and I love looking at costumes and set's as much as the dancing! Not that I get to the theatre very often - I always want to but never have the time/funds/time (sad face).

110415 Oh dear, well there are worse ways to go...
I haven't either, I was just being nosy ;) I still haven't started Mason & Dixon yet! It's huge!! I can't lift it! lol

110415 So.... has anyone started yet???
110415 Sounds awesome (apart from the cucumber sarnies - yuk!), I honestly don't think I've ever met an author before, it must be quite nice to be able to ask them questions about their books over a nice cuppa ;)

110415 Sounds interesting though - looking through the programme from The Nutcracker it looks like I missed his version of Sleeping Beauty when that was on earlier in the year, a bit gutted, it looked really gothic - did you catch it by any chance??
110415 To be honest, I'm not surprised - we will probably be the last one's to get it. Also, the publishers don't make it easy either - too afraid of losing money to worry about library users!
110415 Ok well it was worth a try but they don't do it :(

110415 It was the Scottish ballet company's version, the choreographer was Ashley Page - they set it set in 1920's Germany - loved the flapper dresses the women had for the party at the beginning! I'd never been to see a ballet before but I'll definitely go again sometime - will keep an eye for out for any Matthew Bourne one's.
