Well I'm about 65% in and think my original theory is about to be disproved! I so wanted to be able to guess the killer before Poirot does his big reveal but I'm stumped now lol
It just sneaks up on you though doesn't it? One minute it's weeks away and then you turn round and there's only a few days to go....
Yeah I wasn't expecting it to be so tongue-in-cheek either - she seems to be drawing parodies of village folk at the time and Poirot looks like he is going to be even more eccentric than he is portrayed on the tv!
Yeah that was awesome - I'd forgotten the little cameo role by Corporal Nobby Nobbs and Constable Visit but it was great that they were in it as I love the Watch books as well.
Finished this now and loved it just as much as the first time I read it! Good call Hilary for picking this one!
Am halfway though already and can't stop giggling - Pratchett is so funny and irreverent but at the same time, makes some really keen observations about human nature as Lee says. Enjoy the other Death books, they are equally good!
here it is (I think - although there maybe a longer version??) - it's pretty random as with all Python:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqiUGj...
Hi Ellie, don't worry I'm running behind as well due to general December busyness and my brain having a bit of a meltdown last week - we will get there eventually!Have a nice time at your parents, will be lovely to get waited on ;)
I mean it isn't heroic, traditional quest sort of fantasy like Tolkein etc, the fantasy land of Bas-lag is a bit Steampunk with a couple of little nods to HP Lovecraft in there, the characters are just normal city folk (although they aren't all human) so no kings, warriors, heroic types... I would definitely recommend it, it's one of my favourite ever books.
