101690 I seem to be getting into 'Cozy Mysteries' more, lately.

It is very difficult to find PG-rated thrillers or even Action-Adventure, most have elements that I will not tolerate, such as pervasive profanity/crude sexual talk, explicit sex scenes, and/or grisly gore! :[
101690 I enjoyed your blog. You sure have been all over! As I really, really hate humidity, I have no desire to go any further east.

I would love to see the giant redwood trees.

I once read a story about the mule rides into the Grand Canyon, and ever since watching the movie 'Vertical Limit' and the TV show 'World's Deadliest Roads', heights really terrify me anymore, even on TV or in film, so that story made me break out in a sweat!
101690 My dad was career Air Force so while growing up I lived all over the western U.S. and two years in England. Plus his parents lived in Milwaukee WI. My mom's people lived in ID[where I was born].MT, WY, and WA state. I love those states and the Rocky Mountains. My late husband was from south eastern KY, and I came to love those low mountains and their deciduous trees as well.

My favorite places my dad was stationed are Tucson, AZ, Cheyenne, WY, the Cotwolds area of England, and Spokane, WA. My least favorite were, Witchita, TX, and Minot ,ND[though that is where I met and married my late husband].

I have visited about all of our western National Parks, except Yosemite,CA, which I would love to visit. Hawaii is also on my wish list and both the north and south islands of New Zealand, plus Scotland and Ireland. I would also like to visit the Hill country of central Texas, especially when the Bluebonnets are in bloom, and the Riverwalk in San Antonio.

I love the lack of humidity of many areas of the western U.S. and would prefer to live somewhere like Boise, Idaho with it's milder winters than Ohio. My adult son dreams of San Diego, CA, with it's perfect year-round climate, but the COL there is INSANE!

101690 No need to apologize for such an interesting post. In fact you have just given me an idea for another thread about Favorite Places You Have Visited Or Want To Visit. I hope to see your posts there! ;D

101690 What an interesting post, Kristi. I never heard of the Nokota horses!
My late husband of 30 years was from eastern KY. I was born in Kellogg, Idaho. We met and married in Minot, ND, where both he and my dad were stationed. So instead of marrying a cowboy, I married a G.I. who I couldn't even talk into a pair of cowboy boots, lol!

We drove through the Badlands of SD, once when we were going to Spokane, WA to visit my family. Really, eerie, other-wordly looking landscape.

I so know what you mean about spending hours on Pinterest. I love looking at people's boards, and trying new recipes I snag from them.
101690 Hi Kristi, Don't be discouraged about low activity in your group.

That is the #1 complaint of all group creators according to the Feedback Group.

This group has it's ups and downs, as well, as can be seen by all the 'inactive' threads there are when you click on the topic 'Folders'!

101690 Hi everyone, I have no desire/intention to join Facebook but since I love to share recipes, book and movie suggestions, I really love [besides Goodreads] the website Pinterest.

I was wondering how many here are familiar with that site?
How often do you visit Pinterest? I usually visit everyday.

101690 Good posts, Kristi. Your Facebook group sounds like something many readers of romantic suspense would enjoy, but I myself, do not have nor want a FB account.

Same with my dad. When he and mom went out dancing he was always wearing dress western clothes, including hat and boots, and to this day I love that look.

I love the Rockies, and have seen them in all seasons, and IMO the western mountain states are the most beautiful part of America.

I would like to think that I was a cowboy's sweetheart in another life! :D

101690 Hi Jenny and WELCOME to the group. So sorry to hear abut your child's allergies. Seems to be an epidemic of allergies in children these days, that I never heard of when my kids were young.

I quite enjoyed that book! I sure do..."

Hi Kristi and WELCOME to the group! I also love, love, love cowboy romances, guess it comes from my AF daddy being stationed all over the west while I was growing up, plus he was a huge fan of TV westerns and country-western music. Saw lots of cowboys and rodeos. The best is Frontier Days in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

I hope you find several titles on the bookshelf to enjoy and be sure to check out my bookshelves on my profile page for even more.

101690 What a disappointment The Husband's Secret was! After waiting so long to read my library's Kindle edition, I found it to be a very distasteful read! So nasty, that as soon as I found out what his secret was as about 40%, I stopped reading!

I did not like the characters and didn't want to wade through any more crude sexual talk, dirty thoughts[including suspicions of incest because they haven't had sex in 6 months], strong scattered cursing including religious swears and "F" bombs!

101690 I just finished the amazing ~ Elephant Company The Inspiring Story of an Unlikely Hero and the Animals Who Helped Him Save Lives in World War II by Vicki Croke

and now finally able to start the book I have waiting for to be returned to my library~ The Husband's Secret by Liane Moriarty

101690 Wow you are lucky that your garden stuff doesn't ripen at the same time! EVERY year me and hubby would go around and around because he refused to plant the beans 2 weeks apart so I wouldn't have them all coming on at once, lol!
Apr 07, 2016 07:28AM

101690 I hate when that happens. Be sure to let us know how these books turn out for you.

I really should read book 3 of the HP series. I've only read the first two, but enjoyed them very much.

101690 I loved your post Desiree! Zone 7b sounds wonderful!

Unfortunately the units in my apartment building don't have porches or balconies, it just has a main front and back porch ,looks like a huge brick colonial house with columns.

Do you do a lot of canning? I really enjoyed canning, but not the prepping of the food, lol!
101690 So glad that you read and enjoyed it, Desiree. :D

101690 Prejudice Meets Pride was a fun read that would easily have rated 5-stars if the heroine and the kids had been more likeable and more deserving of the Hero.

Now going to start Elephant Company The Inspiring Story of an Unlikely Hero and the Animals Who Helped Him Save Lives in World War II by Vicki Croke
