Hi Pamela, I have noticed her books and wondered about them. Especially The Swift River Valley series, but I also love the western U.S. so much more than any other part. Cowboys, western lawmen,Texas Rangers ,ummm! Will probably check some out! :D
Laurie wrote: "I recently read 2 books by Minette Walters which were clean and a bit more complicated than a cozy mystery."Which ones,Laurie?
Laurie wrote: "The Eight by Katherine Neville should fit your criteria Miss C. It's been a while since reading it but I do recall it being a basically clean book with no nightmare indu..."Thank you for suggesting this book, Laurie, it sounds intriguing. :D I will be watching for other suggestions from you.
Libby wrote: "Mary Jane Clark is her ex daughter in law! I love her books! Mary Higgins Clark daughter name is Carol Higgins Clark and she is okay. Thank you for the suggestion!"Thank you for setting me straight about the daughter and ex-DIL authors of Mary Higgins Clark,[I sure had it wrong] haha!
Re: Libby, I love some of Mary Higgins Clark, have not tried her daughter's books yet, or the others you suggested, but am planning to try The Cat Who series.I would like to find more that are a little more complex/serious than a cozy mystery[even though, I do enjoy them, and find them fun], but still clean, and no torture or grisly gore details, serial killers, or harm of any kind to a child. Non-murder mysteries would be great too.
Claudia wrote: "Light a Penny Candle by Maeve Binchy - actually most of Mave's, but especially this one. There's a moment in the book that actually made me sob with sorrow. It's such a great read."Hi Claudia. WELCOME to the group!
Thanks for the heads up. I mostly prefer to avoid tear-jerking depressing downer books.
Last Days Of Night was a huge disappointment, so boring!I am now reading ~
and it is already far more engaging. :D
ETA: Didn't finish. Got too trashy for me. Too many "F" bombs and crude sexual talk. Such a disappointment, because I found the info about identical twins, really interesting, but the trash talk just turned me against the parents, and made me want to stop reading.
Definitely will quit reading a "just shoot me now" ANGST-filled book! Nothing at all romantic about that nonsense! Stopped reading books with graphic sex scenes when I was in my 20's after just a few. Found either ridiculously unbelievable or just too crude/vulgar!
Hi Melinda. WELCOME to the group! :DI totally agree about lonnnnnng lasting misunderstandings that could easily be resolved by simple communication between the couple. Smacks too much of pride and stubbornness and tends to turn me against the characters.
