The scene where Jonathan proposes the second time. It took me a week to write it, because I was squirming and choking the whole time.
And another scene, where I don't think the tears translated to the reader (but it's ok) is when Antonio is on the mountain, looking down on the Angeles forest, wondering what the fuck happened to his culture, and everything he believed in is destroying him.
2. You must get influenced by music when you write. Ever heard a song while driving or just walking though the mall that made you picture a scene(s) in your head that ended up in one (or more) of your books?
Take me to Church.
That was like the KEY to Ruin.

What am I doing now that Ruin is in edit?
For the next four weeks I'm on a project I can't talk about yet. I will talk about it at some point, but for now...
1) it is full length
2) it is contemporary romance
3) it is set in my Los Angeles, with some loose character connections. It is not a Drazen book.
Also, I will be pushing Ruin hard in a couple of weeks. You'll see me around more.
Love love love my canaries!!!

I have another one in the Facebook group if you want to check it out.

And here are links for Ruin if you'd like....

I hope you all are having a great day. I've met some of you in St. Louis this weekend. It's been a BLAST!

For now, you can follow my boards I'm @cdreiss over there.
I'll pin all of these beauties over to my board by the Ruin release!!!

They didn't actually meet in any case. That would have been a disaster and derailed his engagement party. I mean, shit...the stars ordained they should be together. But the timing couldn't be worse.
I worked parties and I don't remember a single person. None of them were my soul mate though. I guess that's why I didn't have them meet face to face.
Honestly, I was just trying to express a universal pull between them, kind of a foreshadowed destiny. Even a sort of protectiveness he didn't understand.

Whelp. I'd say Ruin is coming along well. I just uploaded it for preorder, so the link will be up soon.
But…uuhhhh….
The release.
Please don't throw things at me. Look, see, this thing, there's a lot of moving parts. And the thing with moving parts, is that if you're not careful, they can take over and there's no emotion. So…
I need to be careful with your hearts and your time.
I changed the release date to 10/14.
(ducks)

And it's uncanny, I'll be kind of working something out in my head, and some teaser will come up from one of you, and it'll just kind of….if not solve the problem, it'll push me along and let me know I'm thinking about the same things you are.
Michelle did one yesterday with Spin smoking and thinking about how he's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. I mean, that's the whole POINT of Ruin….
He's keeping two opposing thoughts in tension. Theresa doesn't do that, but has to learn to. And Antonio has to stop, and just make a choice.
So good. So, so good.

The minute I read Tragic, (which is one of the few books I finished last year) it was love.

But...BANG was one of the few books this year I finished. I often don't finish books because of time constraints, and it could be that in this case I was between my own books so I had time.
But HOLY HELL....
Great choice Elle. As soon as I read the first few chapters I wanted to be EK Blair's friend (mission accomplished) and that ending? As I was at the 80% mark I'm thinking....she's not going to pull this off.....she's not going to pull this off....
Then....
(view spoiler)

And of course...RAWR!
And Irene - you should post your four second ditty too....I'm squirming in my seat!

But I spent the day doing research, rereading Spin to make sure I said what I was supposed to about this and that, and here I am.
I love all the art going around. I warm the very insides of my insides.
And so, dontcha know, I had a goddess right here have a message waiting for me that I should get off social media.
I kinda love it.

You know. Perdition isn't for pussies. It's really dark. It's written without rules. And it's written without rules because Fiona doesn't have any. It's about what happens to a soul without grounding, so I ripped the grounding out of the story. Which is usually something I'd say is a BAD IDEA and a little too conceptual to hook the "average reader."
I mean, I've not just disregarded, but flouted every single dramatic rule I tripped over as I wrote it.
My heroine is a sex-addicted celebutante. She does drugs. She has more money than she knows what to do with. She lashes out at people with real violence. Does she even have morals? We don't know.
One hero is a sadist who lets his woman fuck around because *it doesn't bother him,* and the other just might break a sacred trust to pursue this worthless, wanton heiress.
The structure is all over the motherfucking place. We're here, we're there, it's now, it's the past. We're stuck in a mental institution. We hear about the outside world, but never see it. The demon in USE isn't even part of the present day narrative. She's part of another story entirely.
The covers don't have white people almost kissing. No hot abs. No skin at all. They're paintings of trees. Right? Did you hear me? TREES.
And no one, not one of you has said "Christine, you jumped the shark with this one." I've never heard, "You really should go mainstream."
You goddesses are not only sticking by me, but supporting me.
I'm so very lucky to have you all. Thank you. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. And if you came here directly from Perdition, thank you especially, and welcome.
