Paulie is what you might call a "pretend friend" in screenwriting parlance.

But...Paulie felt betrayed at what Spin was doing with Theresa, what he was risking.

We were watching Jesus Christ Superstar the other night, the old movie. The greatest thing for me was Judas being portrayed as a man of vision, a man who wanted *what was best* and in failing he both destroys and saves the world.

Don't doubt that Paulie could come back before push comes to shove.

We get a glimpse in KICK.

My assistant for a signing asked me why Eileen was such a bitch to Monica.

And I said, put yourself in her shoes. Your baby boy is dying. You've watched couples in your circle break up and the fights over wealth. You've watched younger women steal men and of course, your husband DID have this issue....

And here's this woman who says she's with Jonathan. He's in a physically and emotionally weak state. They're a few months into the relationship, she's glomming on, do you trust her?

No. you do not.

If you noticed, the cardiologist next door was mentioned in BEG.
So it was one of the many ways I figured it could go. I knew he had a condition, but left it so that it could be ignored if I wanted to do something else.

Tony, you are a genius, seriously. Wow. What a story. I love it.

But no. A story about human trafficking and incest will be career suicide. I'm sorry to be so on-the-nose about what concerns me, but that story, while fantastic, would break the tone of the piece, and get me banned hard. (but damn, you're good)

Declan's predilections (at this moment) are his own, and his connections to the mob are business, not pleasure.

I have to stay on the drazens, and I have *no clue* how long it will take.

There is a possibility I'll have to break off if I get a certain kind of deal, with a certain kind of thing (vague vague vague) but I'll let you know first.

I always let you all know my schedule as soon as I do. You'll not be left in the dark ;)

Whether or not they go to Italy depends on whether or not I can convince my husband he needs a family trip. No joke. I do need to go in order to do it right.

God.
Fuck.
I'm so familiar with those corners. So far, I have enough sisters to play with, but with every one, there's less and less play and I'm pretty terrified that I'm going to get to the last story and say....oh shit. I can't do what I wanted here, because of xyz.

So far, anything I want to do can be given to a sister. So far.

I was writing this mystery series, and I fell in love with the romance of the main couple. Book 3 in the series is mostly a romance.

So I wanted to just focus on romance and hot sex. Monica definitely came first. Jonathan was just a cipher in the first draft of Beg. I wanted to write about a man who wasn't an emotional virgin, and that was there but little else. He developed his charm and sense of humor by the end though, then I went back and redid his scenes.

100271 Julie wrote: "CD how did you get so familiar with the music industry for Monica's experiences in SOS?"

Years of smoking and drinking with NYC musicians, hearing their joys and complaints, staying after shows, asking questions. I was a fashion designer at the time, so it was just me having fun and I retained an awful lot.

My husband was also a musician, so I could always ask him, though he didn't get far. he does have lots of info

100271 ~ Irene ♥s ~ Søren ~ Ben O'Callahan ~ Joe Callahan ~ Javier ~ Spin ~ Isaac ~ wrote: "When you were writing Sing, how much of Spin was already written/in your head??"

The basic outlines of it.

Like, this, then that, then the other thing, and there we are.

I did move Daniel and Theresa's breakup, which jogged stuff a little. SPIN was a cheating story, but I HATED it. Because I couldn't make Daniel just evil right off the bat and live with myself (I don't think of Daniel as THAT bad) so I opened with them broken up... but it's all "even" now to where I had it before. So book 2 starts where it should.

The hardest thing I ever did was end SOS. Jonathan and Monica were still going strong in my head. But I felt STRONGLY that I had to end it and move on, or I'd have a career defined by one story.

The bonuses I do because I know you'll enjoy them, and they're easy and fun.

100271 SueBee★bring me an alpha!★ wrote: "Curious: A classic has 3 acts.. you mentioned 4 acts is that a movie industry thing? or is it a modern take on a classic...?"

TV shows are four acts (though five is becoming the new norm), and the novellas are structured like TV shows.

Some dramaturges do insist that three acts in films are really four, since the middle of act two is broken by a big even that spins out of control.

However, it doesn't change the "dramatic tension" so it's like slicing an onion. You can do it longways or crossways, you still get fried onions.
