Goodreads Employees Share Their Summer Reading Plans

As you might expect, the Goodreads staff is a bookish bunch. Our collective love of literature makes for very fun meetings and very, very long Want to Read lists.
We asked our colleagues to share three books they're bumping to the top of their reading lists this summer. You'll see that our tastes run the gamut. Some of us are excited to pick up new 2022 debuts, while others are opting for a tried-and-true series like James A. Corey's The Expanse or the latest offering from beloved authors such as Silvia Moreno-Garcia, Emily St. John Mandel, and Ocean Vuong. What we all have in common? We can't wait to dig into some great books this season.
Don't forget to add the titles that pique your interest to your Want to Read shelf. And let us know which books caught your eye in the comments!

I think the midnight library, Under the Whispering Door, and Malibu Rising:)
flag
Under the Light of the Italian Moon looks like a good one to me. WWII literature seems to be becoming it's own genre.

Oh, my parents bought me all four books (well, the three in the series, and Four, which is another book in the Divergent universe). May I ask why not? I'm just curious.

Ah icic.
I plan to read The Reindeer Hunters by Lars Mytting, 1794 by Niklas Natt Och Dag and A Corruption of Blood by Ambrose Parry. All are parts of series that I have been looking forward to continue.
Finishing up "Dune" (Herbert, Frank) at the moment. I plan to read a few books in the summer, including "Pigen i violinen" (Romer, Knud), "Dominion: The Making of the Western Mind" (Holland, Tom) and (hopefully) "The Brothers Karamazov" (Dostoevsky, Fyodor) and whatever might sneak in :)
Three of the many books I want to read this summer are Hail Mary by Andy Weir, The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J.Klune, and Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid.
I finished Bablyon's Ashes (The Expanse #6) this weekend. Excited to get into book #7 soon and to read some education, business, technology, and history non-fiction books this summer. Hopefully a classic novel or 2 as well.
Don't think I didn't notice Mr. Colyn sneaking the novelization of Hackers in AGAIN. We should be friends.
Currently reading Termination Shock by Neal Stephenson. I have Andy Weir's latest Project Hail Mary lined up next. Just finished The Book Woman's Daughter by Kim Michele Richardson, which I heartily recommend.
Under the Whispering Door was FABULOUS, but even better is The House in the Cerulean Sea. I wish I could go back and read it for the first time all over again. It was MAGICAL.
Some of these I read already & had on my TBR list. I loved Educated & The Maidens. I added Emily Henry’s book even though I wasn’t a fan of the others but I thought I would give it a try based on the other reviews. I agree with Patricia that WW2 should be it’s own genre…so many good books out there & on my TBR list.
I will be reading The Library of the Unwritten by A.J. Hackwith, Bluebird by Genevieve Graham and The Book of List Friends by Lisa Wingate
The Cybernetic Tea Shop is the only one i've read so far and I loved it! Some of the others are on my to-read list.Three books I want to read this summer: Remarkably Bright Creatures, The Hacienda, One Italian Summer
I have a lot of reading planned, but three books that I am especially looking forward to: Ordinary Monsters, Remarkably Bright Creatures, and This Time Tomorrow.
Miss Aldridge Regrets by Louise Hare sounds like a wonderful "page-turner". This is why I love Goodreads: title suggestions I would never come across otherwise, by other readers.

Glad to hear it's good.

The Leadership Pause by Chris Johnson
The Woman in the Library by Sulari Gentill Marrying the Ketchups by Jennifer Close
On Freedom by Maggie Nelson
The Ali Smith quartet: Autumn, Winter, Spring, Summer. Candace Millard’s River of the Gods. To Paradise by Hanya Yanagihara. This is just a start.
I'm currently reading Madam by Debby ApplegateNext up: Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus
The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune
Recently finished (and loved): True Biz by Sara Novic, Hell of a Book by Jason Mott, and The Ogress and the Orphans by Kelly Barnhill
