I think I was over ambitious because I plan to read some really big books/classics, so I a will decrease the numbers of books.

i reached 56 of 50 last year but i'm aiming for 45 books this year. if i get more than that, it's good.
I have yet to reach a goal and set the bar pretty high again this year. But given the amount of audio books I'm reading I have a good feeling this time around
Btw, follow for follow on Goodreads? I read Classics, Romance/ Rom-Coms, YA, thriller, mystery, Japanese Lit., and manga :)
I managed 280 last year but I've set my target at 200 for this year as I want to read some longer books!
I sometimes think I'm obsessed with the idea of reading more than actually doing it. When I find a great book though I can finish it in less than a week!
I always set my goal at 25 books, which some years is a struggle to achieve. I will then increase that goal throughout the year if it looks like I will surpass that. Last year I read a lot (although many books were children's books), but this year will be busier for me, and I am currently reading a really big book. One thing I started doing is I will borrow several books from the library even though I will not be able to read all of them before they are due, just so I always have something I am in the mood to read. I am also not as reluctant to drop a book if I am finding it a chore to read -- life it soo short to struggle through a bad book!
I set my goal for 40 and I'm making it my mission this year to achieve that maybe even more. 2021 was a horrible year for my mental health and when that is a mess, I don't read as much. But I'm NOT letting that happen this year!
I completed 203 books and stories last year. I say "and stories" because quite a few of those were separately published not-book-length stories, which Goodreads nevertheless counts as books. I set my goal to 150 this year, since I doubt I'll read as many stories as last year.
I'm aiming for 50 but will probably read more. For me 50 is an attainable, reasonable goal for me but since I like to read usually go higher. My tip for everyone: if you need a hobby or need to destress, read to your kids, grandkids or just read.
For me, Finishing a book usually takes me an average of 3-4 days unless it's a big thick novel. I love books like those.
Also, another tip is that find yourself a series of books and read them.
My feeling is "read whatever I want and adjust goal number accordingly" but I also do tend to aim a little lower when I wanna read some longer books, and this year I do have plans--but they have more to do with what than how many. I want to read new releases I'm the MOST excited about only and promptly; catch up on old(ish) favorite series and finish what I can, and not forget nonfiction even if it takes longer to read.I'd love to one day have a want-to-read below 100 and only 3-4 books on my currently-reading but we'll see!
I read every day, listen to my Kindle while I'm working, etc and every chance I get. My goal this year is 750 books.
I'm aiming 85/86 during the year I'm not all too concerned because I set my self to start the day with at least 30-50 pp - I try this before going to sleep to. And then it'll happen - no pressure. A bit of discipline to keep my grey-cells in form
I can't believe some peoples targets are 50 plus. That is seriously impressive. I'll be impressed if I can read 15!

Whenever I go to any appointment or have to sit in the car for any reason, I bring a book with me and read there. Otherwise, I usually just read at bedtime or when I'm on a plane. Reading is my happy place.
Mazzy wrote: "I'm aiming for 21 (1 every two weeks)"If you want to read one book every 2 weeks you'd need to read 26 books this year.
I've got 30 for the 2022 challenge, had to cut it almost in half from last year (I was nowhere near hitting it) so I made this years goal a little more achievable.
I aim for 35 books, and hopefully, I will exceed that. Some titles I would like to read, by my favorite fiction authors, average 500 pages, so I am realistic in my goal setting.
I met my goal last year and my biggest tip goes hand-in-hand with reading what you like… if you’re reading a book and you struggle to pick it up and just aren’t interested anymore, ABANDON IT! You can come back to it later but don’t feel obligated to finish it just because you started it. That mentality is great in certain circumstances but I found that I won’t meet my goal if I don’t love the process.
I opted for 50. That means about one book a week, with space for reading slumps, distractions and so on.
I read a lot and I think something crucial for me is putting aside a book that isn't working for me. Reading for non-work/non-school purposes (I mean relaxation reading) should be enjoyable and not every book speaks to you at the same time. Just because it won an award and everyone else loves doesn't mean it will work for you at this moment in time. Nothing will slow me down more than not looking forward to a current read. I feel fine about putting it aside or away completely and moving on to something else.
I read 122 books, averaging 300 pages per book last year. Keep at least 2 books or an eBook reader in the bathroom. Keep a book with short chapters/articles in the kitchen. Count audiobooks. Audiobooks count as reading. Get over it. While you're at it, listen to audiobooks any time you go for a stroll or to the gym. Enjoy immersive reading via Audible and Kindle with a Kindle In Motion eBook. I recommend Dracula. Very engaging.
I’m going for quality over quantity. So set goal at 24. It’s not a race. Books should be savored, not gulped. Also, since these 73-year old eyes aren’t what they used to be, eye strain is less likely! Happy reading everyone.
