Simon Reid I'm currently enjoying Dead Tomorrow by Peter James, #5 in the Roy Grace series - pure chance that I'm reading it during Mystery & Thriller week, just a happy coincidence: will I finish it before the week is out? Doubtful at my reading pace!

message 109: by Irfken (new)

Irfken I didn't even know it was Mystery Week on GR and I ended up finishing a mystery tonight, so perfect timing. I love Agatha Christie or old-school mysteries and my favorites by Dame Agatha are The Pale Horse and Cat Among the Pigeons. I was doing some spring cleaning last week and came across some of my old Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys books from when I was young. I dove right in and it was nostalgia and great mystery galore. I just completed The Emerald-Eyed Cat Mystery and loved every reading second of it. And speaking of great mysteries, I'm already looking forward to the BBC adaptation of Ordeal by Innocence, an Agatha Christie staple and one of the two books she considered her personal favorites to write.

message 110: by Kyla (new)

message 118: by Jackie (new)

Jackie The Mangle Street Murders (The Gower Street Detective, #1) by M.R.C. Kasasian
I recently discovered the Gower Street series and am totally loving them. So far there are five books in this murder/mystery series. They take place in London in the Victorian era and the description of the city and its inhabitants transports you there. Main characters play well off each other and all the details given are significant. I never felt that a page was wasted. Can't wait to read more from Kasasian, M.R.C. If you've not read his books, give them a try!

First time here as a new correspondent, for lack of a better word. So happy to be here as well. Anyway, I'm a huge mystery/suspense fan and am currently waiting to receive a copy of the latest Linwood Barclay, "A Noise Downstairs", an ARC from ebay, as I couldn't wait till next Summer's release! I am also awaiting the ARC of Nicci French's " Day Of The Dead", as I am a serious fan of the pair and, again, couldn't await the official release. Thanks! Hope to be here soon again in future! Best to all!

It was not really Christie's fault. There are tons of writings on the history of the book's name out there. You can read them online.
