Country Music Friday - "Drink In My Hand" by Eric Church

I know I've been posting a lot of love songs since I started "Country Music Friday" but I just couldn't resist a good ol' drinking song:) Every time I hear this particular one (or any of them for that matter, lol) it really puts me in the mood to hang out with some good friends and drink some ice cold beer. And that's exactly what I'll be doing tomorrow night! Here's to a great weekend! Have fun and be safe!

Social Networking?

I just recently signed up for Facebook, although my page isn't quite done yet, and I'm going to be signing up for Twitter soon as well.  Before I became an author I would have never even considered joining a social network. I was never on the computer and I just felt it wasn't necessary. Now I'm on the computer all the time and I do realize that all of my readers don't read my blog, so I'm hoping that this will help me keep in touch:) So here's my question to you...How important is social networking in your life?

My "Tied Up, Tied Down" by Lorelei James Review

This is book #4 in Ms. James' Rough Riders series. Here's what it's about:

The strongest bonds are the ones unseen...

Rough Riders, Book 4

Businesswoman Skylar Ellison is firmly in control of her life. So getting tangled up with a sexy Wyoming cowboy—and conceiving a baby in the parking lot of a honky-tonk—wasn't in her plan. Since it appears the daddy has taken off for greener pastures, the only thing to do is pull up her bootstraps and carry on alone.

Cattle rancher Kade McKay returns home after a year on the range, and is knocked for a loop when he learns he's the father of a three-month-old baby girl. When Skylar refuses to marry him, Kade grits his teeth, moves in and plays house by her rules to prove he's a man in for the long haul.Despite Skylar's insistence they are to remain strictly parenting partners, their old passions flare hot as a brush fire, spurring Kade to demand absolute sexual surrender from the headstrong woman. Skylar willingly submits her body to the hot-blooded cowboy but she's leery of handing Kade the reins to her heart. Can Kade convince Skylar the wicked sex games aren't a temporary distraction? Or will he have to bust out the ropes to show her he wants to be tied to her...forever?Warning: this book contains: no holes barred kinky sex scenes, wicked rope play, blunt language, and yowza! lots of hot cowboy nekkidness.
Like the first Rough Riders novel I read, I finished this one within a day of purchasing it. I don't know what it is about these books, but I just can't seem to put them down once I start them. I love how Kade is such a macho cowboy, but he also has this super sweet side that just made me melt. I am a sucker for a guy who is good with babies, and although Kade really isn't great at first he puts in an honest effort which made me like him even more. There is one seen that was so cute and funny at the same time. It's right after he finds out he's a father and it involves him practicing his baby holding skills with a sack of potatoes wrapped in a baby blanket. Loved it:) I really liked Skylar as well, but found myself saying "Girl, what's the matter with you?" throughout most of the novel, lol. Skylar has some trust issues due to certain things from the past, and she has a hard time letting down her guard with Kade (and other people in her life). Completely understandable. But, Kade works to earn her trust and soon she not only surrenders her body, but her heart as well.I would definitely read this book again and recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good romance...That is if you don't mind all the graphic stuff:)

Hooked

I gotta tell ya, I am hooked on some Lorelei James books:) I bought another one yesterday and finished it already. She is such a great story teller and I am glad I gave her books a chance. Are there any authors who you were skeptical of reading at first and now they are one of your favorites?

Not much goin' on

I feel very unprepared for todays blog post. I think it has to do with it being Monday, lol. My brain is still on break from the weekend:) Anyway, I really don't have a whole heck of a lot to talk about today. I emailed Amazon and asked them to please make sure that everyone who purchased a copy of my novel, "When the Heart Falls", gets the revised editon uploaded to their Kindle device (for free and with their permission of course). I updated my "Reviews" tab on my blog over the weekend. Other than that I really didn't do much. I had intentions of doing some more work on my next novel but couldn't get in the creative mode. I'm hoping to work on it some this week though:) I guess that's it for now. Have a great Monday!

Any books on tape fans?

Anybody out there love books on tape? I have to say that I am a huge fan of them. A couple of months ago I came across this website called www.audible.com and I absolutely love it. They were having a promo where you could try it out for free for one month...so I did and dowloaded 2 books. I downloaded the app to my phone and now I listen to my romance novels while I'm at my day job, lol. They still do that free promo every once in a while, so if you are a fan keep an eye out. Right now they have a promo going on where you only pay $7.49 a month for the first 3 months. That's not bad in my opinion seeing as these things can cost upwards to $30 a pop. Check it out if you're interested:)

My "All Jacked Up" by Lorelei James Review

I know some of you are probably looking at this review and saying, "Didn't she say a few posts ago that Lorelei James' novels were far too graphic and kinky for her liking?" And to answer your question; yes, I most certainly said that. That being said, I really liked her Rough Rider's short story "Slow Ride". So I looked up the full length novel about those two characters and...Here we are. Before I get into my review, here's the synopsis from the authors website:

Pulling off the ultimate con…if they can keep from pulling off their clothes.

Rough Riders, Book 8

Keely McKay knows Jack—and Jack Donohue is a certified pain in her Wranglers. The lone girl in the prolific McKay family, Keely needs another man giving her orders like she needs a hole in her boot. What she does need is a restoration specialist so she can open her physical therapy clinic—and prove she's left her wild-child days behind. That means dealing with buttoned-down, uptight Jack.

Jack is this close to securing a career make-or-break project, until he learns his lack of marital status puts him out of contention. When the notoriously hot-tempered and hot-bodied Keely begs him for help, he proposes a crazy idea. He'll oversee her project—if she acts the part of his loving fiancée.

Their sizzling lust makes it all too easy to go from butting heads to knocking boots—but outside the bedroom they're as mismatched as ever. The McKays remind Jack of the humble upbringing he left behind, and cowgirl Keely feels she doesn't measure up to Jack's big-city lifestyle.

When the dust settles, Jack and Keely must face the fact they're not fooling anyone but themselves—or they'll risk losing the real deal.

Warning: this book contains one hot-blooded cowgirl and one cool-headed businessman in a stripped-down, revved-up game of sexual truth or dare.

And, now for my review...
I LOVED THIS BOOK! I loved it so much that I literally could not put it down. I read it in one day. One day people! I haven't read a novel from start to finish in one day since I was in the seventh grade, lol. I completely understand what all the hype is about now!

This is the kind of novel that you read and are rooting for the main characters to just cut the crap and admit they love each other already. Jack is a true alpha male and paired with Keely's no nonsense attitude; well, it makes for some pretty interesting stuff. The two of them fight on and off throughout the novel, and in the beginning it's mainly because they are so physically attracted to one another. That all changes after they realize that giving into their physical needs would ease some of that tension. But as time goes on, their feelings for each other develop into something more than just sex and a business arrangement. It was wonderful reading these two characters fall in love and FINALLY admit it to one another.

Now, don't get me wrong, there were some parts of the novel that I really didn't care for. And I'm sure you can guess what I'm going to say:) Some of the "love" scenes (yes I'm romanticizing it a bit, lol) were kinky and I found myself going "Ugh, really?" I have never read a novel that was so graphic and detail oriented when those scenes came about, but at least I was prepared for it this time, lol. That being said, not all of the scenes were cringe worthy. There was one scene that was just so beautifully written, and I found it rather romantic because it was like they were actually making love instead of just gettin' it on.

I would definitely recommend this book for other's to read (that is if you don't mind all the graphic stuff). Ms. James is an amazing story teller and I'm looking forward to reading more of her work!

When the Heart Falls - Revised Edition February 2012

Good news everyone, I've submitted my revised edition of When the Heart Falls to Amazon and it should be available some time today! I'll keep an eye on it and let you know when it's there.
My next book is coming along. I think I've finally figured out how I want it to go. So now I'm just doing some tweaking and expanding on certain scenes. I'm hoping (fingers crossed) to get it to my editor very soon. I would really like for it to be released in the summer, but we'll just have to wait and see. I'll keep you all posted:)
