Social Networking?

I just recently signed up for Facebook, although my page isn't quite done yet, and I'm going to be signing up for Twitter soon as well.  Before I became an author I would have never even considered joining a social network. I was never on the computer and I just felt it wasn't necessary. Now I'm on the computer all the time and I do realize that all of my readers don't read my blog, so I'm hoping that this will help me keep in touch:) So here's my question to you...How important is social networking in your life?

Joanna Gawn Very important! Many of our readers have come via Facebook, mostly through our personal profiles. These are friendships that have been built up over many months.

We have a Facebook Page for our series, too - and a very active Twitter account.

I like the 'virality' of Social Networking, which can share recommendations and 'buzz' in ways that could take months in real-world 'word of mouth' scenarios. I guess Goodreads is much the same, but it's still quite new to me, whereas I've been on Facebook for years. :-)

I'm not sure I'd do so much of it if I didn't actually enjoy it, though!

Good luck. :-)
