How did you come up with that idea?

It’s a question many authors receive from readers and personally, I like hearing it because it makes me think I’ve managed to take the reader outside the expected and into something new and different. Usually, I answer with “It’s all in my head”, which is true, but there’s much more involved in pulling all that’s racing around inside our heads into something interesting.

Research, reality and imagination are all part of

Dollhouse

I’m getting really addicted to this show. Really. Really. And I’m almost afraid to hope…I mean…they canceled Harry. Moonlight was shot down. Etc. Etc.

But Dollhouse is from Joss Whedon. I’m hoping that buys us some security.

Anybody else watching?

The Dream of What Is

When I was in junior high school, I was sure I’d be a writer. I had a vision for myself. I would be unmarried, with many exotic lovers (particularly Italian ones). I’d travel all over the world, writing my books, never being pinned down in one place. Somehow, I think my melodramatic imaginings were validated by Charlene’s song, I’ve Never Been to Me. Yep, wince along with me, please. 80’s songs were very direct, the innocent way they spoke to ou

My Lady…releases today…

This is a fantasy romance, out in ebook from Samhain.  It may go into print format later on, just depends.

And I love the cover.  :)

In the darkest of nights, hope shines through.

Pawn in her father’s maniacal quest for power, Princess Nae Corda doesn’t see any way of escaping her impending marriage to the leader of the Oonkaen. That is until a dark shadow enters her prison-like bedroom—and offers her hope.

King Tyan will do anything to save his kingdom and the lives of his goblin people—even if it m

Trying to pin down some of my characters can be tricky. Especially my medieval heroes, they really don’t like to sit down and “talk”. The heroines will, no problem, but the men are trickier. I was lucky enough to pin down Edwin and Alfwyn, brothers from my Enchantress series. I preformed a joint interview, and as you can tell they are night and day.

1. What is the name of the book where

Me me me me me me

t-shirt1I’ve got a few friends (they know who they are, evil people) who tell me that I need to do more promo-type stuff.

Promo…that means talking about me, right?  ;)

Okay then… here’s an interview, with me.

And here’s a cafepress store where you can get a nifty shirt that has the name of my yahoo group on it.  Or a bookbag.  Or a mousepad.  The store is pretty basic-I’m not doing an upgrade on it until I see how things go.

But viola…I talked about me.  Promo, yes?  Thanks to Jill for the awesome graphic.

Quickie contest winner…

Julie F.  She commented

The last sentence I wrote was on the white board for 3rd grade art project:

“NO BLOOD,GUTS,OR GUNS”

Yeah, I can agree. ;)   I’d rather my grade school kid not bring home a war-zone pic.  Julie, email me @ shilohwalker(at)gmail.com and put BLOG CONTEST in the subject line.

Just a reminder, as stated in the disclaimer listed in the sidebar, it’s your responsibility to check back to see if you win.  I give winners about a week or so to check back and then there may be another win

I was all set to post about principled heroes—you know, those paragons of virtue who fight for causes greater than themselves. King Arthur. Leonidas. But really, we all know why they’re great. Everybody loves a good, selfless, noble hero. Then this weekend hubby and I rented The Italian Job, so instead I thought I’d like to talk about thieves and why we find them so

quickie contest…

Because I’m trying to finish rewriting an older book for Samhain, and polishing up Shattered, which is now called Broken, for Berkley.

So here’s a quickie contest so your visit here wasn’t totally in vain.

To enter…what was the very last sentence you wrote before dropping by the blog?  Something in an email?  A review?  The latest line in a story?  Put the sentence, or as close as you can remember, in the comments, and viola…you’re entered.

I’ll draw a winner soon, and the winner will get one of th
