Poll: What Decade Did You Start Reading Terry Brooks Books?
I began reading Terry’s work in the 1980’s.
The story of how I became his webmaster is HERE. In short, my mother brought home a ratty, well-loved copy of The Sword of Shannara from work. While she finished reading a different book, the copy of Sword just sat there, waiting for me to pick it up. I did. And thirteen year old Shawn read it in two days, completely engrossed.
At that time, I had no idea there were two sequels. The copy my mother had been given was a first printing paperback. The E...

The UK Edition
The Darkling Child by Terry Brooks is publishing on June 9th from the UK as well! And here is the cover for it!
I love the blue. Has a dark look to it, just like its US counterpart. And the book is dark. Terry has written a wonderful and terrible look at the wishsong and I for one loved it.
Here is the dust jacket summary for the UK’s The Darkling Child:
From the New York Times bestselling Terry Brooks comes a brand new stand-alone fantasy novel – perfect for both seasoned fans...

Poll: Ilse Witch vs. the Reaper

Witch Wraith by Todd Lockwood
After the last poll, I had another thought:
What would be the most interesting fight between the evil characters in the Shannara series?I came up with an answer. Maybe not the answer but a very good answer anyway. If the Ilse Witch (not the good Grianne but the evil) and the Reaper were pitted against one another—thrown into the Four Lands at the same time and told to find and kill the other—how would that play out? Who would win? How would they win?
So that’s m...

Poll: Which Evil Entity Would You Want By Your Side In A Fight?

Witch Wraith by Todd Lockwood
Evil. It is everywhere.
Usually we readers enjoy a novel’s great evil. After all, our heroes need something to fight against. We root for our heroes while we revile the evil, wondering how the protagonist can overcome such terrible odds.
But what if we readers needed to have evil on our side in order to win a fight?
Today’s poll deals with that questions. Below is a list of some of Terry’s most terrible baddies. And then there is you, in need of help to win a fig...

25th Most Powerful Author Working In Hollywood: Thing Two
This is Thing Two of the two-part blog on the Sword and Elfstones books and the TV show.
THING TWO
Now that Thing One is out of the way, I want to tell you why you should read The Sword of Shannara before you watch the TV show – even though the show itself is based on The Elfstones of Shannara. Of course, I want everyone to read both books before the show and then go on to read the other 25. But we can’t have everything we want in this world, and those who want to will do...

Regarding Gen Con & Indiana
A handful of you have written to the website asking for me to comment on my position regarding the new law recently passed in Indiana, which many, myself included, believe can be used as a tool for sexual discrimination. This is of some concern since I am scheduled to appear as Author Guest of Honor at Gen Con in late July. Also, because I have personal reasons to be concerned about any sort of religious, racial or sexual discrimination.
To GenCon’s credit, they have already com...
