BrooksBlog: In Praise of Fans
Terry signing at Powells (June 16, 2015)!
IN PRAISE OF FANSThis blog is long overdue, but that’s how it is these days. I am back on tour with The Darkling Child, and it is something of a relief to be momentarily distracted from my work on the Shannara TV show, The Shannara Chronicles. It is also a reminder of how much I enjoy interacting with my readers on a personal basis.
Judine has always maintained that I have the best readers of any author she has ever seen, and she has seen a lot as a D...

Live-Streamed: Saturday’s Event On Periscope
Technology. It’s amazing.
This Saturday, Terry will be at the University Bookstore in Seattle, WA at 4:00 PM in support of his new Shannara novel, The Darkling Child. Terry loves doing these events, meeting with fans and signing books.
But he can only be in so many places when a book releases and that leaves a great many people around the world unable to hear him speak in real time.
No more. I will be trying something new Saturday afternoon. Periscope via Twitter.
What is Periscope? Periscop...

Today is June 9, 2015!That means it is the release day for The Darkling Child by Terry Brooks!

What I love about The Darkling Child is its tight-knit, focused story. Like its p...

Guest Post: Peter Orullian Talks Character & Terry Brooks
Author Peter Orullian
Depending on who you talk to, the origins of the fantasy tale vary. Some argue that the oldest of old are fantasy, starting with the Epic of Gilgamesh. Others step forward a short while to The Iliad and Odyssey. And still others will defend Tolkien as the true father of the fantasy novel. Though, even Tolkien was influenced by the Volsunga Saga, which also inspired Richard Wagner’s Der Ring des Nibelungen. And none of these is wrong. But . . .
I could argue that in the m...

BrooksBlog: An Update On All Things
Hey Everyone,
Time for a new post. Been so busy with reviewing the Shannara Chronicles TV scripts that I’ve barely had time to catch my breath. But things are winding down. I’ve seen the last script and think it is in pretty good shape. So now I am reviewing rough cuts of the various episodes. Just so you understand how that works, they send you one to comment on, then revise it, then send you a new version, and so on until they think they have it perfect. They do this for each episode. A mo...
