Poll: What Decade Did You Start Reading Terry Brooks Books?

The story of how I became his webmaster is HERE. In short, my mother brought home a ratty, well-loved copy of The Sword of Shannara from work. While she finished reading a different book, the copy of Sword just sat there, waiting for me to pick it up. I did. And thirteen year old Shawn read it in two days, completely engrossed.

Albert Sword of Shannara was my first Brooks book, read it in 1985. Had just started High School and had a 45 minute bus ride, good way to keep busy during all the travelling time. Have loved his books and re-read them multiple times since.

Brandon 00's for me. I was just starting high school and picked up Sword at a public library on a whim because I had no homework and was waiting to get picked up. I didn't have my card with me that day so I had to get the book another day.

Nova Didn't get my hands on Brooks until 2000. I found The Sword of Shannara in my middle school library in sixth grade and I was hooked from then on.

Matt Mongiello It must of been 1994 because Sponge's album Rotting Pinata always makes me think of the Sword of Shannara.

Elizabeth Raabe I started to read his books of the Sword of Shannara series starting in 1991. I was working and had an hour on the train into work and back home again each day, so I really liked reading his books.

Vicky Bowler In the 70s. One of my best friends introduced me to the amazing world of fantasy. First was The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings and then Sword of Shannara. My life has never been the same. I always believed in those worlds. Glad others did/do too!

Tom 1977 and I still own the letters Mr. Brooks wrote to me, and the first edition with the Hildebrandt fold-out. Bought every one since.

Rachel I think I started reading The Sword of Shannara in 2001 or 2002. I was getting really into Lord of the Rings at the time so my dad gave me an old copy of SoS. :)
