Sword of Shannara was my first Brooks book, read it in 1985. Had just started High School and had a 45 minute bus ride, good way to keep busy during all the travelling time. Have loved his books and re-read them multiple times since.
00's for me. I was just starting high school and picked up Sword at a public library on a whim because I had no homework and was waiting to get picked up. I didn't have my card with me that day so I had to get the book another day.
Didn't get my hands on Brooks until 2000. I found The Sword of Shannara in my middle school library in sixth grade and I was hooked from then on.
Late 80's. I love it so much I just started a re-read of the entire series in Terry Brooks recommended reading order :)
It must of been 1994 because Sponge's album Rotting Pinata always makes me think of the Sword of Shannara.
I read Sword of Shannara in 1998. The Shannara series got me though the entirety of High School, and will always hold a special place in my heart. <3
Last summer! My brother recommended the Sword of Shannara series and I haven't been able to stop ever since. Just can't put them down
I believe it was the 80s, my mothers copy of Sword of Shannara. Found it lying around and had never tried to read a book so thick being in my mid teens then. Challenge accepted!
I started to read his books of the Sword of Shannara series starting in 1991. I was working and had an hour on the train into work and back home again each day, so I really liked reading his books.
In the 70s. One of my best friends introduced me to the amazing world of fantasy. First was The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings and then Sword of Shannara. My life has never been the same. I always believed in those worlds. Glad others did/do too!
Late 80s or early 90s. Over the past year, I've gone back and re-read the earliest ones because that was just so long ago...
1977 and I still own the letters Mr. Brooks wrote to me, and the first edition with the Hildebrandt fold-out. Bought every one since.
I think I started reading The Sword of Shannara in 2001 or 2002. I was getting really into Lord of the Rings at the time so my dad gave me an old copy of SoS. :)
