On campus my History class is known as "The Ambeth Ocampo Experience" where you learn a lot but your grade doesn't reflect it. Why flock to a class that gives low grades? I don't know but they all seem happy tts over!

Our cabalen Prof. Ambeth Ocampo transferred the entire Ambeth Ocampo Filipiniana Collection from the National Library of the Philippines to the HAU Center for Kapampangan Studies because, he said, "I want my fellow Kapampangans to have access to the books and because I believe in the work you do at the Center." As the collection continues to expand, plans are underway to transfer it to a larger venue. The Ambeth Ocampo Filipiniana Collection is open to all researchers and scholars every day (except Sunday) from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

"Your Center is the standard by which all studies centers in the Philippines are measured," said Prof. Ambeth Ocampo, former NHCP and NCCA Chairman and the country's most popular living historian. He appreciated the retablo, the archaeological exhibit, the timeline mural, the John Larkin Library, the Ambeth Ocampo Filipiniana Collection, the kulitan conversion booth, the Vicente Manansala exhibit and the University Chapel. We discussed bringing his Ayala Museum lectures to HAU, next year after another stint in Japan, and also about popularizing history. After a tight hug, he sped away in his brand-new Lexus. Dakal salamat, Prof. Ambeth, for your kind words about the work we do at the Center.

We had almost 650 people at my Ayala Museum talk this afternoon. If there was no Ateneo vs UST game we would have had more. I cannot compete with basketball. My last History Comes Alive lecture for 2014 will be on Saturday November 29. Save the date and share.

Old maps and sea charts are fascinating documents because they reflect what people feared from the deep. Oliver van Noort established a blockade on Manila Bay in 1600 and their visual account shows giant bangus and pusit as big as their ships! Pls share.
