Finally tried Indian cuisine and a whole universe opened up to me. This crepe-like hat dipped in the three different sauces for starters made me kick myself for not trying Indian food long ago. Had to eat it first in Tokyo, sarap pala!

What does a seven million peso book look like? This is the title page of the first edition Noli me tangere published in Berlin in 1887. We do not know how many of the original 2,000 copies exist but this book has real and sentimental value for Filipinos.

Salcedo Auctions lived up to its praise releases recently by setting new auction records in the Rare Books department. Last month a first edition of Rizals Noli Me Tangere, published in Berlin in 1887, was put on the block with an estimate of P300-350,000; it sold at a whopping hammer price of

Screen test at NHK International, Tokyo. This went better than the Weather segment where I kept pointing to the wrong places on the bloody moving map. Now I know how Rico Hizon feels like infront of cameras at BBC.

Today, Feast of St. Michael and the archangels, reminded me of the Ginebra San Miguel label designed by Fernando Amorsolo. Despite modern technology and printing the current Ginebra labels are not as sharp and wonderful as those in the past. Before it was called "GSM" its nickname was "Marca Demonio." Note too that before Ayala malls and gated communities the company distilled gin in San Miguel District, Manila. (Collection of Edward de los Santos). Pls share.

Meet the winners of Ateneo Celadon's Teacher Awards 2014!

Oogway Award
Most Memorable Teacher: Ambeth Ocampo

"How does it feel to win the Most Memorable Teacher award?"

"Although I am happy over the award, it does make me feel old as Yoda, and at the back of my mind I wonder what my students remember after our course is over. I do hope that they learned something useful."

"In your own opinion, what was the most memorable thing you have done or taught in class?"

"What is the most memorable thing I taught in class? That the world has become a lesser place because we have not cultivated an appreciation for useless information."

"Do you have any advice in life that you wish to impart to your students?"

"I recommended that all my students buy and keep their Noli and Fili because one day they will find time to read Rizal not for an exam but for the sheer heck of it and maybe then they will realize how wonderful Rizal's novels are and how these helped in the emergence of the Filipino nation."

Preparing for Manuel L. Quezons private trip to Japan on June 29-July 10, 1938, must have been a logistical nightmare because his itinerary was always changing. This was neither an official nor a state visit because the president of the Philippine Commonwealth could not chart or initiate foreign af

Is this one and the same woman? She appeared in two stereoscopic cards in the early 1900's and put the pictures side by side to compare and contrast: why does she look so unhappy in the full shot and pretty in the close-up? Pls share.
