Unlearning flag history

Growing up I didn't know about the 1898 Battle of Alapan and other military victories in Cavite before the Declaration of Independence was read from the window of Emilio Aguinaldo's Kawit home. The iconic "Independence Balcony" added when the house was renovated into the impressive mansion we have today. After that creepy app that allows us to make archival photos come alive, the latest one allows us people to place their face, seamlessly, on an old photo. This harmless app is potentially dangerous for history because it can be used to create Fake News.
Many of my lecture posters place me with historical figures or events, like Forrest Gump or Bernie Sanders in mittens. Deep Fakes are harder to debunk if pictures are manipulated beyond a joke and made to lie.
