In the Interview Room – Pamela Almand
My current projects include getting audio books produced for those who prefer that format. I hired Pamela Almand, “The Captain’s Voice” to record my Triple-D Ranch series. She recorded for me, and I thought her voice would be great for my Triple-D series. The audio format for In Hot Water is available now, and she’ll be working on In Deep Trouble and In Dire Straits next.
I asked Pamela if she’d share some of her thoughts on being an audiobook narrator, and I’m posting the f...

Friday Field Trip – Finding Feebie
Last week, I posted scenic pictures of our hike up Raspberry Mountain. Feebie came along and had a wonderful time checking out all the new scenery. Can you spot her in these pictures? Now you know why she wears that bright orange buff when we hike.
Have a great weekend, everyone!

Settings, Contests, and More
It’s my week at the Booklover’s Bench website this week, and I’m talking about setting. I’m giving away a copy of Rooted in Danger, which is based on settings I visited in Oregon as well as my home neighborhood in Los Angeles. Leave a comment over there to enter. (And while you’re there, you’ll find another contest where you can enter to win a free audio book version of In Hot Water.)
I’ve also got a release date for In Dire Straits: October 25th. I have some Advance Review Copies (epub, mob...

What’s Cooking Wednesday – Zucchini Fritters with Yogurt Sauce
Hubster loves to pick up fresh produce at our local farmer’s market, since gardening is next to impossible up here unless you want to build a greenhouse and haul water. He generally grills zucchini, but decided to try something different recently.
Zucchini Fritters with Yogurt Herb Sauce
Ingredients:
Yogurt-herb sauce
c plain whole milk Greek yogurt
1 T each finely chopped fresh mint and chives
Juice of large lemon
Pinch of kosher salt
Fritters
1 lbs zucchini (about 4 medium), trimmed

In the Interview Room – Carolyn Rae
Today I welcome Carolyn Rae to Terry’s Place. Carolyn Rae lives in Hurst Texas, and is the author of the Witness Protection Series and other romantic suspense books.
What’s your biggest distraction when you should be writing?
Going through my e-mails. After I ordered a diet program, I started getting all sorts of e-mails about different foods, which were usually advertising supplements and exercise programs to help me lose weight or belly fat. Since I’m working on a healthy cookbook I feel I...

Letting Word Read Your Manuscript
Last week I talked about working through ACX to publish audiobooks. Today, it’s a different kind of listening.
After proof-listening to my first audio book, I learned that skipping a ‘read it out loud’ editing pass means you’re going to miss things. Heck, even when you do read it out loud, you can still miss things, as I’ve always caught glitches when I’ve listened to the narrations.
I’m currently in the final editing phase of In Dire Straits. It’s been through two rounds of edits with my edi...

Friday Field Trip – Raspberry Mountain
Earlier this week, Hubster and I (and Feebie) hiked to the top of Raspberry Mountain. For the record, I’m not huge on hiking, but since just walking around our neighborhood approaches “hiking” in spots, I figured I’d give it a shot. A six mile round trip, and about 4-500 feet in elevation game. All I can say–I made it to the top and back to the car. No broken bones. Not even a fall. And yes, the views from the summit were amazing.

Audiobooks and ACX Revisited.
I’ve been doing a lot of listening lately. I just released In Hot Water in audio, and just finished listening to the narrator’s corrections for Deadly Secrets. Proof-listening takes patience, because there’s no way you can “read” any faster than the narrator’s pace, and for audio books, the overall reading pace is slower than you’d read with your eyes.
Things have changed at ACX since my first 5 audiobooks were in production. One, the lower royalty rate means it’s harder—a LOT harder—to find...
