Cat-tain’s Log: Episode 017

Cat-tainNetflix and Chill.

My work life didn’t change all that much during quarantine. My partner, Erik, began working from home back in the beginning of March and will continue to work from home until I am no longer at high risk for catching Covid19. He works downstairs in the basement, and I continue working in my office. The cats have settled into the idea of both of us being home but realize I am more likely to pay attention to them than he is. They also seem to know when either of us is in a Zoom m...

Cat-tain’s Log: Episode 016

Cat-tain*THWAP*

When we first introduced DiNozzo to brothers Malley and Riley, they were terrified of him. Despite having spent the first year of their lives in a foster home full of cats and dogs, they’d lived the next year with us and no other animals. Cat-tain’s Log: Episode 013

Cat-tain

When quarantine struck, it really did feel like humanity held its collective breaths. Many places of employment ground to a halt, shortened their hours and/or staff, or switched to online production. The economy tanked, unemployment hit record highs, and people stopped going outside. Grocery and food delivery shifted from something disabled people used to something everyone was using. Suddenly Amazon and InstaCart were taking in record profits, while everyone scrambled to adjust to a new way of ...

Cat-tain’s Log: Episode 012

Cat-tain

Covid-19 through my cats for a loop.

They were already used to me working from home most of the time, but even as a full-time author, I wasn’t home 24/7. On Wednesdays, I left for a few hours for my writing group. 2-3x a month I left again for a different writing group. Sometimes I had lunch with friends. Whatever my cats did while I was away or working, stopped when suddenly, Erik and I were both home. 24/7. We didn’t leave on the weekends to go game, no one came over to game, no food deliverie...

Malley would’ve made a good desert cat. Being a Chartreux mix, he’s got the massive feet and head, plus the double-coated, water-resistant fur that a lo...
