From Hostage to Jedi

I hope that a new blog post about transforming from hostage to Jedi is evidence enough of my existence.

(By the way, what happens at school does not necessarily stay at school. But not to worry, I rarely mention names. And my stories are usually innocuous. And sometimes even entertaining. Oh. You might want to read the post called Move If You Are Alive to get a little context.)

The other day, I went from hostage to myth to something like the Jesus and the Holy Spirit to a hologram to a Jed...

Move If You Are Alive [1]

I was not going to write any more pieces about shingles, but an interesting thing happened in a staff meeting the other day that kinda sorta has something to do with shingles. (Although it might be one of those stories where you had to be there.)

I am still thinking of the silver lining COVID has given me this school year. I would probably have had to take sick leave from school for the first month of school. Maybe longer. As it is, I have been able to work and manage the pain that is shing...

Trust Your Gut

When it comes to fantasy football, you have a couple choices. You can trust your gut or you can trust the pundits.

I have been participating in fantasy football for a long time. I even won our championship a few times. Twice before we got our official trophy. (Even though our commissioner does not recognize those wins that were not immortalized with etchings on said trophy.) I am sure those wins were mostly luck. After all, fantasy football is all about statistics. And statistics was my ...

My Own Private Air Show

It is quite the treat to have your own private air show.

This past summer, I got to have my own private air show. Truth is, I got to have a private air show two days in a row. I took pictures the second day. Or at least I tried. Actually, I tried to take video and failed miserably. Still, it was fun to have my own private air show.

I am not sure why, but some pilot was flying above our town doing aerobatics. Loops and stalls and rolls. It was great fun to watch. Especially since it h...

Silver Linings

There is always a silver lining in every bad situation. You just need to look for it.

The pandemic has not been a great time. Mostly because of the disease itself and the pain it has caused. It has also kept people apart, which may be a good or bad thing depending on your perspective. Still, many people have seen the silver lining of being cooped up in their own homes. They have seen that being apart and slowing down has kept people together as family units. Or drawn them closer as fam...

Shingles Poster Child [1]

I recently felt like I should be poster child for the shingles vaccination. One look at me and you would want to stand in line to get yours. But do not worry. It hurts much worse than it looks.

I never understood what the big thing about shingles was. I never gave it a second thought when I heard that I should get a shingles vaccination. Even after I saw the pain my mom went through when she had the shingles. I knew it was obviously not a fun virus to get, but I figured the same thing ...

If You Give a Man Tech Support

Beware if you give a man tech support.

Some of us are our own tech support. That just means that we can fix our own computer problems when they arise. Whether those problems are the computers themselves, the network they communicate on, or even peripherals that they use. We can and do fix most of those problems on our own. Mostly. But there are those who need tech support from others. If you are one of those who offer tech support in your family, beware. Especially, if you are just start...

Digital Cobwebs

Sometimes I feel like my websites are dank and dark rooms full of digital cobwebs. Empty and unvisited.

If you have ever gone into an old house with a little used basement, you have probably gotten your face full of cobwebs as you tramp down the stairs. If not, you have probably seen it happen on some old movie. It is not a pleasant experience. But once you get past all those cobwebs, you realize that the room is dank and dark and musty and creepy. Even if the lights are on or it is broad ...
