Words and Pictures

Sometimes the pictures on my blog posts do not match my words. But that is okay.

There are times when the picture(s) on my blog posts do not match the words. Like the moo zone post having a picture of a sheep with its head sticking up out of the crowd. Part of that is because I get most of my pictures from a service that has long since paid for itself. I get these photos that do not need any attribution. (Presumably because I already paid for the service.) It is a great deal. I have even...

Sitting Here Waiting

Well, here I am waiting on the day before my blog preview with nothing written so far. (Except the words of the last sentence.)

If you have read my blog for any amount of time, you probably know that I release my blog post on Saturday, but I give a preview on social media (Facebook and X/Twitter) on Thursday. My #ThursdayThoughts post. It works for me. Usually.

Usually, I write my blog on Saturday and get it all ready for viewing. Meaning that I grab a couple pictures and format them for m...

Forever to Be Screaming

The Scream by Edvard Munch
This work is in the public domain

I am made
Forever to be screaming.
Be it in horror
Or in fear or in dreaming.

My eyes opened wide
My hands bracket my face.
I am screaming forever
In all time and space.
You will see me like that
And although it might seem
That sometime I ought
To stop this awful scream.
But here on the wall
I must forever scream
As I am forever
Dreaming an awful dream.
But do not blame me
I scream with no say.
For Edvard Munch was my painter
Who m...

Writing Fiction

I am not sure how it works, but I when I write fiction, the characters seem to have their own wills and do what they want. It is crazy. Then again, it is a bit like real life.

Now I am not just going to rehash what I wrote when I wrote Just the Watcher. In fact, when I looked at the title of this piece I thought, “I wonder if I already wrote this?” So I looked. I have several pieces on writing fiction, but I found what I was looking for among all the detritus that is my blog. It was right...

The Moo Zone [1]

I do not know why, but students like to line up at the door before class ends. So I have a deterrent. It is called the Moo Zone.

Maybe it is human nature. Maybe it is impatience. Maybe it is clock watching. Maybe it is something else. But whatever it is, students seem to think that they ought to line up at the door to wait for the bell to ring. It is strange.

You would think that they would want to learn more than the class period would allow, and would be surprised that the bell rang to...

Focus

I have been so focused on writing books lately that my blogging is suffering.

Okay, suffering is too strong a word. How far down can you really go from mediocre? Especially, if that is really what you are trying to achieve? Especially, if you are just trying to become good enough to be MediocreMan? Sheesh. So maybe my blogging is not suffering, it is just languishing.

I used to have ideas all the time for what I would write on my blog, but now the ideas seem to be fewer and farther between...

Hmm and Argh

I am not sure that Hmm and Argh are in the dictionary, but even if they are not, I am going to keep using them.

Hmm is a great little word. It is a word that is supposed to make you think. Or at least make you think about thinking. Hmm. See, you thought about thinking about thinking. Is that even a thing? Yes, it is something called metacognition. Thinking about thinking. It is quite the concept.

At any rate.

Thinking because you read the word “Hmm” is pretty cool. I use this word in m...

Do You Ever Wonder?

Do you ever wonder if you are doing what you are supposed to be doing? Yeah. Me neither.

I suppose that if I ever wondered what I was doing, I would not have over 1000 blog posts since 2007 (actually, late 2006). I would not have over two dozen books on Amazon (the latest two were released on August 1, 2025). And I would not keep having more ideas for blogs and books all the time. Or would I?

I suppose that we all think about what we are doing from time to time. Or if not, maybe we should...

My Other Latest Book

(#ad) click

I forgot to mention that I have another latest book out there. (I actually wonder if “another latest” is a thing. Hmm.)

I released six books on August 1, 2025. (Four of them are books of screenplays that I had already published digitally. But I figure that releasing them in print form means that I released them. So I am counting them.) I also released 101 DailyPrompt Pieces: Poetry, Prose, and Pith, which I wrote about in a previous post. But the other book I released is call...
