My Second Writing Holiday for the Year

I should be somewhere sunny and warm and relaxing on a beach under a palm tree or disco ball…instead, I’ll be busy working on a new book and hopefully short stories for one of my author names, getting my other books updated and ready for printing at Ingram Sparks because yes, I’ve signed up to them to get my books going even more global than they already are, and I’ll be finishing off some super-duper news that will come later in the year…God I need a holiday!

STYLE NOTES: Stationery Haul

As a writer, I love my stationery, I couldn’t live without it quite frankly. But I’ve always loved it, even as a little girl I loved my pencil sets and letter writing set and still I can’t stop myself buying.

I bought some more Jonathan Adler paperclips. They were only $2 so I bought the two sets left, and they’re in pink and blue! I bought the black and gold set back here.

We have a cheap store called The Reject Shop here in Australia and it sells lots of inexpensive goodies and with my love of stationery I just had to buy these…Tropical stickers, journal cards and cardstock diecuts and two new eraser sets. I’ve been adding to my eraser collection and will show it in a couple of weeks. I also had to buy two crown pens, in my favourite colours of course, they were only $1 each, how could I pass up on them…

As for the journal cards, I don’t “journal” like Americans do, I’ve seen videos on YouTube and you guys go all out in decorating your planners and journals. I’m not sure what to do with them, but they were pretty and had flamingos and palm trees, and beside rainbows and unicorns, you just can’t go past them…

What have you guys found yourselves buying because it was…pretty…

MY OBSESSION: New additions to my collection

I don’t get to buy Nancys that often, maybe once a year. The books are far and few between with only three a year of both series, and there’s a few odds and ends here and there but I can’t always buy them or get them unfortunately. So far this year, not too many companies have bought anything out, maybe they’re waiting for the big one in three years time…The Diaries and Clue Books have paperbacks, which I get, and book sets, plus hardcovers and audio if you can afford to get them shipped over. But I don’t buy hardcovers unless it’s a box set, and audio is something I don’t worry with. Below are the paperbacks, 3in1 and box set of Nancys I’ve gotten this year.

How I received a broken phone tripod and glued it back together!

That’s right, back in February I bought a bag and phone tripod from Colette. The tripod arrived broken. Colette refunded it for me but I didn’t want to throw it away so the only thing I could do was glue it back together using E-6000. It’s stuck for now, and hopefully won’t re-break, but I smeared enough glue on it so it should stick. It goes with my selfie stick so I have a pair.

Have you guys ever received something broken and not wanted to chuck it out so you repaired it instead?

STYLE NOTES: Shoe Letter Writing Set

To go with the Fashion Style Book I talked about the other day, I also found this gorgeous letter writing set from the same pop up book shop. For $5 it comes with the usual pages, envelopes and notes, all decorated with shoes…love the back and inside cover most.

BOOK STYLE: Fashion Style Book by Bonnie Marcus

You all know I love a good fashion and accessory book and I’ve recently bought another one, along with some stationery, but more on that another day. Today is all about this awesome book that I got for $7. It has pages for everything…it has designer profiles, goes through the decades my favourite is the 80s, talks about classical pieces of clothing and accessories, where to shop, what fabric types and prints there are, there’s a colour quiz, pages on customising your clothes, inspiration and sketch it pages, mood boards and selfie pages, notes and termination. It’s quite awesome overall.

STYLE NOTES: My Kmart Unicorn Stationery Haul

I love unicorns and rainbows amongst other things, who doesn’t, right? But when Kmart’s business overhaul means lower every day prices on everything you just gotta buy…well…everything…

Which is why I’ve been adding to my stationery collection. I’ve shown my notebooks and letter writing sets over the last few years, and now I’m into compendiums in a big way. I’ve bought key rings and 80s style badges and now I’m back into eraser collecting, but more on that another day.

For now, here’s my latest haul from Kmart.

LEFT: rose pink and gold compendium $10. TOP: Unicorn notebook set with stickers, pencils, pens, and a sharpener $12. BOTTOM: Two pack glitter/unicorn notebook set $5, cat spiral notebook $2.

JDS - KMART HAUL1

Rose pink compendium with rose god spots. Rose gold on the inside with a marble print notebook. Upside, it was only $10. Downside, the rose gold inside marks easy and there’s no pen, which would have been useful.

JDS - KMART HAUL6

JDS - KMART HAUL7

Awesome unicorn notebook set which is why I bought it, for the notebook. It came with unicorn stickers, crystal stickers, a ruler, sharpener, glitter pen set, glitter pencil and a star light…

JDS - KMART HAUL2

The star light is no ordinary star light…oh no…it’s magical…

JDS - KMART HAUL3

JDS - KMART HAUL4

The two set is pretty awesome too. One has sequins floating in it and both have unicorns on the pages.

JDS - KMART HAUL5

And of course one can’t buy unicorns without buying more unicorns…right? Two purses for $2 each.

JDS - KMART HAUL8

What bargains have you guys bought lately and do you shop at Kmart?

RSL Art Union Draw 347 is now open!

RSl Art Union Draw 347 is now open and it’s a monster.

Six bedrooms, an entertainment zone, guest zone, garages for six cars, it’s so huge it comes with a $10,000 garden voucher and $50,000 in gold on top of what you’d win just for buying tickets. It has multiple decks, multiple zones, the master has a spa bath, just about every room has a balcony/deck, I gotta say, for a house it’s even too big for me.

One thing I notice with so many of these homes, is that they are not laid out properly with proper sized rooms, like a laundry, and there are too many doors for burglars to get into. I’d sell it as I could not possibly live in it and afford the rates every year. Check out the website for more pics and a better look at all of the rooms it has.

Tickets are $5 as usual and can be bought from the RSL website.
