Last of my Summer Shoe Bargains and how driving wrecked my sandals!
Throughout the year I’ve been looking for silver sandals. Decent silver sandals that had enough straps to fit my foot. But alas, it was not to be this year. I did find these charcoal/pewter silver crystal embellished wedges, which a girl must have. Crystal shoes! On sale at $30 from Spendless Shoes.
From Cinori Shoes I bought these Django & Juliette mint green sandals that have an iridescent vibe going on. On Sale for $99. I do love me some D&J sandals, sadly, their enclosed shoes and boots are too narrow for my feet otherwise I would have bought about 20 pairs in the last two years.
Now, onto how mum’s car wrecked my sandals!
These two fave pairs of Django & Juliette have been worn a lot, especially the greeny-blue pair below. However, because we drive on the right side of the car, the right shoes have been wrecked by the carpet.
I love these shoes and am devastated that the heels have gotten so wrecked. The green ones below go with so much in my wardrobe and I am madly looking for another pair online.
If anyone knows where and how I can get the heels and toes of my shoes covered with caps or something to protect them, let me know.
Damn car!

Last of the Summer Clothing Bargains
I got into an animal theme with these pants. Thankfully, I already had my tiger top, so just as well both of these pants fit in well with that theme
These pants were only $16.80 from Millers, as usual, on sale.
I got this silver cardigan for $15 from Millers, on sale. And while the pants are also Millers, they actually came from an op shop for $5.25. That means, with the prices of the top and shoes added in ($14.95/$30), this whole outfit cost me $65.20.
I’ll try and get around to wearing the cardi over winter, but the pants will be waiting until summer.
What late summer bargains have you guys scored?

It was my birthday yesterday and I take a look back at this year’s weight loss
Sadly, I turned 43 yesterday and still have no life thanks to the shit I have to put up with and which my family DOES NOT HELP with.
But while I can’t control that I can control my weight. After seeing the outfit pics of me from last year I knew I needed to get back to losing weight.
I was only thinking about it over Christmas and into the new year but I realised when it’s hot I don’t eat a lot and so a shake meal would be perfect for me in January.
I went to Chemist Warehouse and bought a two pack of Optislim VLCD (very low calorie diet) chocolate shakes.
The shakes are the best I’ve had and I’ve tried many other weight loss shakes. When mixed with a mixer they are smooth and have a touch of caramel to them. Three a day with at least 2 litres of other fluid got me through three days. On the fourth day I knew I needed some protein for my low blood sugar, so if you suffer from it, be careful. At home I will have a shake for breakfast, but if I’m going out, I’ll have a filling protein meal.
I didn’t have cravings for chocolate because I was getting it in the shakes, and since I’m rarely hungry in hot weather I was never really hungry. And I was over food anyway. With mum being sick the year before even I had gotten sick of shopping for it, cooking it, trying to come up with something we could both eat. It just wasn’t working anymore and so that’s another reason meal replacements are helpful.
My weight started at 96kgs/15stone/210pounds. The first week I lost 4kg/8.8pounds, the second week 1kg/2.2pounds, the third week the same. So in three weeks I had lost 6.5kgs/1 stone/14pounds.
The weight loss slowed down after that, a kilo here, a kilo there. I did slowly add some food in every few days. An omelette, some salad, I even regulated a junk food day once a week where we had whatever lunch we want. I never felt like I was going without and as I stated, I had no cravings.
The shakes did get boring after three weeks as I can never stick to one thing long enough, so I added the bars.
They come in a variety of flavours, choc cherry, caramel, fudge, mocha and cookie’s and cream. They’re dense like muesli bars, are coated in chocolate so you never crave it, and are filling enough for breakfast or dinner. I changed my days to a shake for breakfast, omelette, Lean Cuisine, or salad for lunch and a bar for dinner. The weight continued coming off albeit slowly. Mainly because the weather got cooler and I wanted more filling food. But I’ve tried keeping it healthy and try not to go overboard on carbs as I don’t want to gain the weight back. I even limited the chocolate I had at Easter. Mum and I shared two little bags of little mars and malteaser eggs, but on my junk food day so it blended in, and I got right back to the diet the next day.
My goal weight loss was 4stone/56pounds/26kgs but by now I’ve only succeeded in getting half way, which is still a good effort. 2stone/28pounds/13kgs in five months has helped immensely in coming off. I can fit back into some of my clothes, I feel lighter, I can move better, and I’m sure it’s helped my back issues.
I’ll try and maintain my weight over winter which will be hard as I’ll want food to fill my tummy, but I’ll have to stay away from carbs, so lots of meat and veggies. Plus, one thing that I realised, is that since this meal plan is low calorie, things such as cup-a-soups are good. I don’t drink tea or coffee so lots of chicken noodle cup-a-soup for me as fill ins. I won’t be having the shakes over winter as they’re too cold, but I will try and keep up with the bars for dinner or breakfast. I’ll add lots of eggs back in and try and keep my stomach full with good warm food. I also make a mean hotpot with meatballs and veggies.
Once Spring is here, or maybe I’ll wait until October or November when it’s warmer, I’ll go back on the shakes again and see how much more weight I can lose by the new year. I can’t wait to get back into my black jeans that I haven’t worn in many years, or some awesome dresses and skirts for summer.
Below: The top set of pics is me this time last year, and below that, is me wearing the exact same outfit just last Thursday. The weight loss is obvious. My jeans are now baggy (I need more holes in my belt) and so is that top. I’ve lost it from my boobs down to my knees, mainly around the stomach and hips. Hopefully I don’t gain it back in winter. As long as I stay busy I don’t get hungry and that’s a bonus, just not in freezing cold winter…

Brand New Jewellery Bargains so far this year
So far this year it’s been all about bargains. And in this case I went retro with these awesome 80s style brooches. Flamingo, palm tree, toucan, pineapple, hearts, I also scored some bag bling (as seen in previous posts) and this cute sparkle purse. All only a couple of dollars each from my local Kmart.
Next came this awesome jewellery set from Adorne, all $5 each, that’s $25 for the lot.
And you may be asking why I bought three necklaces? Well…because I turned two into earrings…
I bought these three pieces, the earrings are from Adorne for $5, the two rings from eBay. I paid for the blue one and got the green one for free.
I managed to get this awesome bangle from eBay for $40
And this vintage brass necklace called Gypsy Treasure. Two of the pieces are removable bracelets. $45 from eBay
What jewellery bargains have you guys gotten this year?

My Brand New Bags, and I see Bag Bling is on the Rise again
So far this year I’ve bought four handbags, three in the colour of blue…of course. All under $55, but not leather. That went to the 3Annies one I bought last year. And it seems that bags, especially from the chain store Colette by Colette Hayman, are all coming with bag bling. So I went and bought some and got in on the pom pom craze that’s going round.
I raided Kmart and got all of these for $2 and $3 each.
These are the two bags from Colette by Colette Hayman. On sale I got them for $52 each, and each came with their decorations. They aren’t leather and will hopefully not fall apart with a bit of wear.
I got this bag from a discount store called CFO at one of my local shopping centres. I added the gold heart and multi tassel bling. At $30 it was a bargain.
I bought this huge overnight bag for $12.50 from a pop up shop. I use it for shopping as it can hold a bottle of drink, mum’s purses, my stuff, and the shopping folder with all of the bills and what not in it. And there’s still plenty of room left over. The pic below it has the side view.
This is my 3Annies that I bought last year. I added three bag blings to it.
Of course bag bling is nothing new. I’ve been buying keyrings since the dawn of time and adding them to bags. But it seems they’ve come back in fashion.

What craze have you guys gotten in on this year?

STYLE NOTES: Typo’s Rainbows and Unicorns
Stationery chain store Typo had a recent glut of rainbows and unicorns in store and I partook in just some of it, finding all of these goodies for 30% off.
TOP LEFT: Rainbow wall hang, star photo holders. TOP RIGHT: an AWE.SOME rainbow pc bag and purse set.
BOTTOM LEFT: Unicorn cushion. BOTTOM RIGHT: Star purse and rainbow pen holder.
I scored these three notebooks in store for $2 each.
On the same day I got these three pink sparkle letters. You can hang them on the wall, but so far I’m just sitting them on something. Pink, sparkly, what else could Jewel Divas Style want!
Close up details of the laptop bag and purse. I added a couple of cute keyrings I’d bought a while back from Kmart as they suited these two perfectly.
The inside of the purse is plain, but the inside of the laptop bag is just as awesome, pink velvet and cushioned to protect your laptop.
What goodies have you guys indulged in lately?

RSL Art Union Draw 346 is now open!
The new RSL Art Union draw is now open so go and buy tickets here. It’s four townhouses in Paradise Point on the Gold Coast, just around the corner from a shopping strip, down the road from Runaway Bay shopping Centre, around a corner from Harbourtown and not far from Helensvale Westfield.
All four are fully furnished, with heating and cooling, a two car garage, a security system and all opposite a park and boating harbour.
Townhouse #4 is laid out a little differently and has more purples and blues than the other three that have purples, pinks, greens and blues. I love the colour scheme of these apartments as it’s very soft and light.
Get in to the RSL Art Union today and check out the virtual tour. You’ll see the huge massive built in wardrobes each master has.
